summer rose

Happy sweet day to you!
Hope that your weekend was wonderful and you were able to enjoy some lovely weather! I spent the weekend working on some projects and a custom order. I made the backing for my vintage cross-stitch quilt, so now I need to sew a binding on, and I have decided that I will tie the quilt. I hope to get it finished this week!
I was able to finish this pretty yellow rose pot holder and it reminds me of those warm summery days! I do enjoy making these, and would love to have a wall full of them in all different colors. So pretty that would be! If you would like one in your favorite color, I would love to do a custom order for you! You can visit my shoppe for more details!
There are a few new pretties in my shoppe! A couple pink rose vintage tea towels and a sweet Wilendur Royal Rose doily!

Wishing you a beautiful and creative week!

sweet gingham

Well, here is my little gingham project that I finished! I love how sweet it came out! I started out with the cute cross-stitch flowers, and wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but then decided on a mini quilt. I do love making these small quilts, as they are so charming.
The strawberry fabric is one of my favorite prints in my little stash, and I thought it would be the perfect match for those cute flower pots. I also added some hand quilting with two different shades of pink embroidery thread.
And, for the finishing touch I crocheted a variegated green scalloped edge! I adore all these colors together. So pretty and fresh!
Now, it is ready to be hung and bring some sweetness to my home!
And, since I am still loving the gingham with cross-stitching, this is what is in my hoop now. I have been playing around with some vintage rose patterns, so we'll see what they become!
A couple weeks ago I came across some gorgeous vintage pink rose toweling, and I have been working on a couple tea towels! I have a few more sweet touches to add, and they will be in the shoppe early next week!

Wishing you a most lovely weekend!

peaches n' cream

Happy Monday!
Hope that your weekend was wonderful and thank you for all the sweet valentine wishes! The weather has been so beautiful, so I spent most of the weekend outside, and it has me so excited for spring. It is my favorite time of year, so I can't wait!
Well, I have made it my goal this year to learn to crochet all of my favorite vintage pot holders that I have collected or have seen in pattern books. After I bought this pretty jade one a few weeks ago from an estate sale, I really wanted to make one of my own, but didn't have the pattern.
Then, the sweet Haafner of ByHaafner shared with me this link for the vintage daisy pot holder pattern. So, with spring in mind I got out my peach and cream yarn, and started crocheting this pretty daisy. The pattern was simple, which is always a plus, since some of the vintage patterns can be a little confusing. I ended up making a few changes to the pattern to make it look more like the vintage one that I have.
I really love how it came out! So cute! I know that I will be making a few more in some pretty spring colors. And, it makes a sweet addition to my growing collection.
Last week I was so happy to have won this lovely lot of vintage pot holder books on ebay, and for such a great deal. There are so many adorable patterns in these books, and it was fun to read all the advertising inside. I will have to get some of these pages scanned to show you.

I finished my little gingham project, which I am excited for you to see! So, I'll be back later in the week to show you! Are you working on a sweet project?

Wishing you a wonderful and creative week!

happy valentine's day

Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope that you have a day filled with sweetness and love dear friends! And, thank you for all the love that you have given me through this little blog of mine! It has blessed me so!
I am almost finished with my little gingham project. A little hand stitching was done, and the finishing touches are being made. Something has overcome me lately with a sudden love for gingham and cross-stitch. I don't know what it is about the combination, but it just is so sweet!
There are some other projects that I have planned, so I ordered some more pretty colors to play with!!
I have a weakness for roses, and when I saw these plastic kitschy roses on this pretty blog, I knew I had to get some!
They are little cupcake toppers and I bought them from a cute shoppe called Sweet Estelle's. I love how they look in the red Pyrex bowl, and they would also make a lovely touch to a gift, too! So many craft ways you could use them!
I was in need of a new pin cushion, so I took some of my favorite vintage rose fabric and vintage lace, and sewed together this little one.
Even pins need a pretty place to rest! ;)
To celebrate Valentine's Day, I am having a one day sale in my shoppe! Enjoy 14% off your order when you enter the code "love" at checkout!

Sending you Valentine hugs, and wishing you a most lovely day and a beautiful weekend!

Thank you to sweet Meri for the adorable vintage bluebird image! ;)

a pretty quilt top and gift

Happy Sweet Monday! Hope that you had a wonderful weekend!
On Saturday, I finished the quilt top, and I am lovin' how it turned out! All the colors are so cheery together, and it just brings a happy smile to my face.
I used some of my favorite vintage fabrics and feed sacks, which was a great way to use them up and be displayed. Now, I need to decide on the backing and binding fabric. For the quilting, I was thinking doing some hand stitching in the fabric squares or tying it with a cream thread. What would you do?
I made a sweet pink variegated rose pot holder, and I think that this style is my favorite. I love the lacy look to it. I am now offering custom orders for vintage rose pot holders in my shoppe. These would make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself! ;)
A little sneak peak of my latest project. Sweet gingham and cross-stitching!! Oh my!
Last week some pretty mail from my dear friend Paula of Sweet Victoria Rose. I could not wait to open all those pretty packages! She is so talented and has such a generous and beautiful heart!!
Inside was a darling vintage toaster cover, a beautiful vintage table runner, cute yellow buttons, and a pretty handmade brooch that Paula made!

Also, this gorgeous vintage cross-stitched apron!! So adorable! Oh, how I love vintage aprons!
I adore Paula's creations, and was so excited to open one of the packages to find this precious doll and vintage heart inside that she so perfectly made! The heart is gorgeous, and I love the pink and green rose feed sack with the sweet crocheted flowers! She definitely knows how to make my day brighter!
And, I have to say that I just love this doll so much! All the details are so perfect, with her darling outfit, pink shoes, sweet face, and heart lips!! Too cute! Thank you so much Paula for sending me such treasures!! I love them all!! Make sure you take a little visit to Paula's inspiring and beautiful blog and etsy shoppe!! I know you will love her, as much as I do!

Wishing you a lovely and creative week!

a vintage pillow

Thank you for all your sweet comments on my new items! I am truly blessed by your kindness and support! So, many thanks for making my day brighter!
Last Friday, I went to an estate sale on my street, which was great to not have to go very far, and I came home with a few lovely treasures. The prices were quite high, so I didn't get to take all that caught my eye, unfortunately. Well, this vintage crewel embroidered pillow was sitting on the couch ready for a new home, and I was more than happy to give it one!
I have always loved needlework pillows and there is something so beautiful about crewel embroidery. I have not really come across a lot of them, especially ones that I like, but this one was so sweet, that I knew it had to come home with me! I am thinking this is from the 60's or 70's, and I love the pop of bright orange and yellow colors.
The design is beautiful, and the flowers and butterfly are so pretty. I adore the circular shape, and it looks like at one time there was green velvet piping, which is now a dark yellow with green splotches. I will just have to imagine how lovely that was!
Now it has found a pretty place to rest and be treasured for many more years! It has also sparked my interest in giving crewel embroidery a try. Have you ever done it before?
And of course, I found some adorable vintage pot holders! A girl can never have too many of these cuties! The aqua and white in this darling shape are so pretty, and I do heart that scalloped edging!
Oh, how I love this one, especially that pretty jade green!! I only wish I could still find that color. And, I was thinking that maybe because it was used and washed, over time it faded to that shade of green. What do you think? Well, this cute flower pattern will definitely be in the making for spring! How lovely would this look in pink!
I am going to try to finish the quilt top this week, as I am too eager to have it finished. So, I am off to sew away! Are you working on any sweet projects this week?

Wishing you a most lovely and crafty day!♥
