vintage musical plate

A lovely musical package arrived yesterday in the mail. I have always wanted to have a special birthday plate that could be used for everyone's birthday. So, what better to have than a vintage musical plate that sweetly plays "Happy Birthday".
This is a Swiss Musical Happy Birthday Cake Plate. Isn't it so pretty!! Love the beautiful red roses, my favorite!
With a neat on/off switch, and when you turn the plate to wind it, a sweet song plays.
This has come just in time for September, which is my big "30th" birthday month! Time to celebrate!! It is going to be a great, and busy month for me.
I finally finished my mini crocheted blanket, and now it is time to put a most lovely scalloped border, adorn it with some vintage doilies, and the words "vintage grey". I will be using it as part of my display for the boutique, which is coming at the end of September. I bought all the wood and chicken wire, and will start putting together my display over the weekend. I can't wait to show you!

Wishing you all a wonderful Labor Day weekend! On Monday, I have a sweet surprise for you my friends, which I know you will all love!! Blessings!

I am linking up with the sweet Sandra of Lara's Vintage for Thrifty Thursday! Head over to check other vintage treasures!

a quiet weekend

Happy Monday! The weekend went by so fast, but it was quite one with some time to work on my many projects. How was your weekend? One vintage treasure that I love finding are old tin household items. These were such a neat find, especially the Annette's Perfect Cleanser.
Made in the U.S.A and this one is from the 1930's. There is actually still some left inside! I love the list of things this wonderful cleanser can be used on. Perspiration, blood, grease, oil, tea... Oh, my what a magical cleanser!
And, the directions are just as fun. Do you have some neat vintage household tins or items?
For my upcoming boutique, I have been collecting some vintage items to display my tea towels. I found this neat vintage wooden towel rack on Etsy.
The patina is so lovely and it will be a sweet touch to my display!
I received some pretty mail over the weekend. Some most lovely reproductions prints, my favorite!
My mini blanket is almost finished, just another round of colors, and it will be ready for a scalloped border. This week I will be taking out my fall decorations, and I am so excited for the crisp air and pumpkins. How about you?
Wishing you a most lovely and crafty week!

great grandma's sewing caddy

Thank you all for your sweet and supportive comments on my new tea towels and mini quilts! They mean so much to me! I have one more batch that I will be listing hopefully during the weekend. :)
I thought it would be fun to share my great grandma's sewing caddy with you. It was given to me by my mom, and I have always loved the design, especially the pretty scalloped legs.
It is an olive green, and looks as though it has been painted more than once. Underneath there is a darker green, and a yellow. I think I would like it in the pretty yellow!
 It sweetly stores my yarn.
And, now they are quite the darling pair together!! I am still waiting for the paint to arrive so I can get started on painting this little one, and maybe even both!
Some pretty yarn came in the mail yesterday, which is always so fun opening up to find all these yummy colors.
Now, I can start on my next color for this mini crocheted blanket. Hope you are having a lovely and crafty day!

a sweet peak

Happy Monday!
This weekend was quite busy for me with some projects I have been working on. I also was able to go to an estate sale on Saturday. It was a neat older house, but unfortunately I walked away empty handed. There was nothing too exciting that was worth buying. So, I returned home and starting working away. Did you bring home some sweet treasures this weekend?
I am finishing up some pretty vintagey tea towels for fall that will be up in the shoppe, hopefully tomorrow evening.
Sweet dresdens ready to be sewn on the tea towels...

And, some more tea towels waiting patiently for their scalloped edging.
Here is a little sneak peak at some new items that are ready for their finishing touches, and will be going into the shoppe later in the week.

I started this pretty mini crocheted blanket that will be apart of my display for the boutique coming up at the end of September. I am waiting for some yarn to come in the mail, so I can finish it up.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are having a great start to a new week! I am off to sew and crochet my little heart away! Have a fabulous day!

a sewing caddy

So, luckily the weather has cooled down a little, which I am so happy about. It is hard when you don't have central air. :)
This little sewing caddy was a sweet find at the flea market on Sunday. It is in a little rough shape, but I just adore the design in the wood and the size. I have a larger one from my great grandmother that I love. This could be the start of another collection. Oh my!
And for $5, I couldn't pass it up! I just order some Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, from a local store which I am really excited to use. I have so many wooden pieces that need to be brought back to prettiness!
I also brought home some lovely crocheted potholders. I am going for a whole wall of these in my kitchen. I have 12 so far, so maybe another 12 more..
You probably saw this gorgeous enameled bowl with my new crocheted hangers! I love it, especially with the aqua rim!
I have some good news to share with you...I will be doing my first boutiques coming up at the end of September and the beginning of November. I am super excited!! I will be posting more information when it get's closer, and if you are in the So. Cal area would love for you to come out!
So, I bought this bowl to be part of my display. I thought it would be cute to lay some of my tea towels in it. What do you think? I have so many ideas, and a lot of sewing and crocheting to do. I would love your prayers as I prepare for these, as I am really nervous, but know the Lord is in control!
I have to make my booth backdrop, so off to Lowe's I go this week to get some wood and chicken wire. I'll be giving you little sneak peaks as it comes along.
And, of course I still have to do other projects, right? I started a new granny, it is called Waterlily. I love the peach, white and pop of orange together. I am planning to do a small throw for the couch. These squares are about 8 inches, so it will only take about 15 or so to make one. I am going to plan to do one a week. We'll see how it goes.
This awesome stamp came in the mail yesterday. I love stamps, and this one is so great for doing phrases! Do you have any favorite stamps?

Hope you are all having a beautiful and creative day!

I'm linking up with Liz of The Blue Eyed Owl for Thrift Score Thursday! Head on over to check out some more treasures!
