Thank you for all the lovely comments on my advent calendar! It was so fun to make, and it will definitely be a treasured Christmas piece. We got our Christmas tree yesterday, and I am excited to decorate it this weekend. Do you have any sweet plans for the weekend?

Here are a couple vintage ads from Herman Bros. company and are they have some great bargains! What would you like for your home this Christmas? I would love the Capehart 17 inch Consolette and Norge Deluxe Washer! Oh my, wouldn't those be neat to have! ;)

Some more Christmas decorations are sprinkling my home. 

 A pretty felt holly garland that I made last year, and...

  Santa mugs are out holding pretty vintage ornaments. I bought about 12 of these mugs at an estate sale, but I don't think they are vintage. It looks like they were painted by the owner and most of them are unfinished, but they are still cute. ;)

 The stockings are hung and ready to be filled. I made these last year using the patterns from Thimble Blossoms. I am sure you can tell which one is my husbands! ;)

 I had to get some lovely crocheted scallops in my Christmas decorations, so here is a little peak at a project I am working on. I'll show you more about it next week. 

 These wintry squares are becoming such a pretty pile and I am getting eager to finish this small blanket!

The Christmas Advent season is here, and I am so excited to be finished with my Christmas Joy advent calendar. I have always wanted to make one, so I am glad I finally did this year! 

 Christmas Joy sweetly stitched on a vintage Christmas tablecloth.

 Pretty vintage lace between each row and numbers carefully embroidered on vintagey Christmas prints.

 Lovely eyelet lace adorned to the bottom to add a pretty touch. 

 Now it is ready to be hung and filled with little treasures to welcome in this Christmas Advent! 

Santa is starting to make a sweet appearance in my home! Oh, how I love this time of year!

Happy Monday!

Hope your weekend was wonderful! After Thanksgiving, I unplugged a little and had some good crafting time, and just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather. 

I finished my Christmas garland inspired by the beautiful 'gleeful' garland the talented Tif of Dottie Angel created. I followed her tutorial, and just added a little touch of pretty green.  

Now it is hung and bringing a little 'gleeful' handmade touch to my home for Christmas!

a happy thanksgiving

I wanted to thank you all for your sweet comments on my Christmas goodies that I put into my shoppe! You made my day, and I am so grateful and truly blessed by your support! Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I wanted to leave you with a vintage recipe and ad. The recipe is for Sugar Jumbles! They sound simple, but yummy! I can only imagine how sweet Miss Joan Weary was, who created this recipe! 

This vintage ad by The American Thread Company reminded me of what many of us will be doing tomorrow as we get for ready our Thanksgiving meal. And, of course we will all be dressed in our finest vintage dresses using our sweetest crocheted pot holders!! I know I will be! ;)

Happy Friday!

This week went by so fast! I have been hibernating in my sewing room trying to get projects completed, and of course starting new ones. I always wonder why my list of projects never seems to get shorter. ;)

Are you ready for some Christmas shopping? In continuing with last Friday's vintage Christmas ads, here is a sweet selection of goodies from Noah's Ark shoppe in 1951. What would you buy? I would like the waffle maker, tree icicles, and those pretty ornaments! 

The numbers are almost done being stitched and getting sewed onto pretty Christmas fabric. Then, it will be time to put this sweet Christmas project together. Can you guess what I am making?

The Christmas vintage tea towels are getting their final sweet touches and will soon be ready to bring some holiday cheer to many kitchens.

Hopefully the sun will peak through this weekend, so I can take photos and get them all listed in my shoppe.

A few Christmas potholders are almost finished, along with 

these pretty Christmas hankies that will all be heading to the shoppe very soon. These hankies have become a new favorite to create. 

In the evenings I crochet to relax and unwind, so I like to have a few projects that I can work on. I just started a Christmas crocheted garland that I am looking forward to having up for the holidays. I was just thinking that last December is when I first picked up a hook and learned how to crochet! Time sure goes by so fast. ;)

And, I am making progress on my husband's blanket. Yay!! This is definitely going to take me longer than I thought, so hopefully it will be done in time for Christmas morning.

The vintage recipe for today is for Old-Fashioned Molasses Taffy. A simple but sweet treat! I have never made taffy before, so I am looking forward to giving this a recipe a try for the holidays!  

Christmas is coming soon to my little shoppe!! I was busy this weekend crocheting away these pretty scallops on my vintage Christmas tea towels. I am hoping to have them finished and in the shoppe by the end of the week, along with some other Christmas goodies, too! Well, off to sewing I go! ;)

ironrite and a modern hankie

Awhile back I bought a Christmas penny saver at an estate sale. It was published in Newark, NY during 1951 and has some neat graphics. I thought it would be fun to share an ad with you each Friday. This one for an Ironrite!! Oh, how I would love to have one for Christmas, and her pretty outfit, too! How about you? 

I love vintage hankies, and have always admired the beautiful crocheted edges and sweet prints. I have been wanting to make my own version of them, so what perfect time, than for my Nana's birthday. 

I made it with a sweet aqua floral print from Tasha Noel's the The Simple Life. 

 Crocheted a most lovely red scalloped edge.

And embroidered a pretty deep blue 'N' for Nana. I love how cute it came out, and I am hoping she likes it, too! I think these would be so adorable as doilies. I'm looking forward to making some more. Well, back to Christmas sewing and enjoying this beautiful fall day!
