great grandma's sewing caddy

Thank you all for your sweet and supportive comments on my new tea towels and mini quilts! They mean so much to me! I have one more batch that I will be listing hopefully during the weekend. :)
I thought it would be fun to share my great grandma's sewing caddy with you. It was given to me by my mom, and I have always loved the design, especially the pretty scalloped legs.
It is an olive green, and looks as though it has been painted more than once. Underneath there is a darker green, and a yellow. I think I would like it in the pretty yellow!
 It sweetly stores my yarn.
And, now they are quite the darling pair together!! I am still waiting for the paint to arrive so I can get started on painting this little one, and maybe even both!
Some pretty yarn came in the mail yesterday, which is always so fun opening up to find all these yummy colors.
Now, I can start on my next color for this mini crocheted blanket. Hope you are having a lovely and crafty day!

a colorful gift

A pretty little package arrived yesterday from the most lovely and talented Trish, of Notes of Sincerity, and I just had to share it with you! How sweet is the orange gingham ribbon and spring green wrapping! And you know that when something says "happy stitching" pure goodness is going to be inside!

Look at all the yummy and colorful floss! And how adorable is that card with blue bird and strawberries! :) If you cross stitch or embroider, you know how happy this pretty assortment makes you!! Thank you sweet Trish for a most wonderful and generous gift!! What a way to spend a cozy weekend! I am off to go learn how to cross stitch, my newest venture!

Make sure you visit Trish's beautiful blog and say, "hi"! Also, she has been putting some of her most lovely treasures and sweet handmade goodies in her Etsy shop and blog this week! You don't want to miss out!

Hope you are having a wonderful and warm Sunday. It is a little cold and rainy here! :)

lovely yarn

I thought it would be fun to share a little post on what I learned recently about such lovely yarn. I am new to crocheting and have been told that when you buy yarn in hanks, you should always roll the yarn into a ball before starting your project. Well, I was so eager to start my project with this new yarn, that I didn't think it would be that big of a deal if I didn't roll it into a ball.

And this is what happened to the oh, so lovely yarn.

I know what your thinking, I should have listened to the advice, but I was too impatient. :)  I tried to get all the knots out and it just got worse. I had purchased quite a few of these hanks, and knew that my husband would not volunteer his arms for every hank, in attempt to roll it myself.

So, I purchased these lovelies. A yarn swift and winder.

I have been having a lot of fun winding all of my yarn hanks into beautiful balls that end up like this.

If you have a story such as mine, please do share, so I don't feel like I am the only one who has done this. :) Happy yarn winding and crocheting!
