It's my turn on the Pixie Noel Blog Tour and I'm excited to share this sweet patchwork pillow I made with the darling new line and embroidery pattern created by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake Designs.

 Tasha always has the sweetest embroideries to stitch up, and I enjoyed stitching this cutie up. I should have made the hand stitching green instead of aqua to stand out more, but it still looks sweet.

 I love all the darling prints and pretty colors in this line, and so perfect for a vintagey Christmas!

patchwork apples and pretty pinwheels

   Hello!

Hope you had a lovely weekend! I am eager for autumn and those cooler weather days. So, to get a little in the mood, I couldn't resist making some sweet patchwork apples from the lovely Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet's book, Quilty Fun!

 They were so fun to make and I can't wait to make some more, maybe into pot holders!

 And, this sweet mini apple quilt is what I made! It is completely inspired by the darling mini apple quilt that Jessie of Messy Jesse made that I just loved! So, now it is the perfect little quilt to practice my hand quilting on!

I made a few more pinwheels to add to my quilt! I am more of a simple quilter, and these are always my favorite to make!

 The hardest part is always deciding the fabrics! ;)

 And, now my Sew Sweet Bee pinwheel quilt top is finished!

 I just love how this quilt turned out and all the pretty blocks and colors! Thank you to all the Sweet Bee's who contributed to it!! Soon it will be off to be quilted by the sweetest Donna, which I can't wait!! Her quilting is always so beautiful!

And, these pretties arrived in the mail from Donna last week! She sweetly asked me if I would like to do a Blogger's Choice for her fabric shoppe, which I was so excited to do with these new Lecien Flower Sugar collection! The colors are so gorgeous! You can find this sweet Vintage Grey fat quarter bundle over at Donna's shoppe!

friendship dahlia

Hello and happy sweet day to you!

It has been a busy couple weeks working on some new pretties for my last summer update for the shoppe, and working on some new projects, too! 

I learned from the help of a sweet new blogging friend how to make my first traditional hand appliquéd Dahlia, which I am quite excited about and think it turned out pretty cute for my first one. I basted the feed sack petals, stitched them down, and for the center I did needle turn, which I can definitely use some more practice with. I really am enjoying all the hand sewing. It really makes me slow down and not rush to get something finished.

It all started with this booklet where I saw the Friendship Dahlia quilt pattern.

I really loved how pretty it was, so I thought I would give it a try and cut the pieces out, but I was so confused on how to make the petals with the curved seam since I am so used to making hexies and diamonds. Well, I came across the lovely and talented Martha of Q is for Quilter and saw that she had made one awhile back, so I thought I would ask for a little help. 

Well, she was so sweet to explain how she made it, and even sent me her beautiful Dahlia and some beautiful feed sack petals so I could make a small Friendship Dahlia doll quilt!! I was quite excited! I am so blessed by the sweetness, help, and generosity of this blogging community! Thank you so much Martha! And, I can't wait to make some more! ;) Oh, I finally found my first aqua Pyrex dish at the the thrift store the other day. Yay!!

I am still working on some sweet bow ties and made a couple of minty and grey ones.

I love mixing the feed sacks with newer fabrics!

I made this sweet patchwork puppy pot holder for a gift for a lovely friend. I love how the patchwork turned out, and I will be adding a couple to my shoppe, too!

These beautiful fabrics arrived from the sweetest Shay of Simply Sweet Fabric. The first three are from Darlene Zimmerman's new Lazy Daisy Baskets which I just love the pastel colors.

I have been making some new vintagey aprons for the shoppe and been having so much fun! This one I used part of a vintage fruity tablecloth. I will be having one last summer update in the shoppe in the next week or so, and then I will be on to apples for fall! I am kinda looking forward to the cooler, crisp weather!

a bow tie baby quilt

Hello and a lovely day to you!

It's been a fun week finishing up a couple custom orders, and working on a new project! For the #handsewpatchwork sew-a-long with zakkaArt we learned how to make a cute bow tie, which I made the sweet yellow one above. 

Well, I was so excited to learn how because awhile back I was reading through the May 1951 Workbasket magazine and came across this darling baby necktie quilt. Such perfect timing! They each measure about 5 1/2 inches, so I am not sure how many I will be making for the baby quilt. There block is little smaller and they suggest 749 bow ties! Well, I don't think I will be doing that many! ;) I think I will be sticking with maybe 50, plus the solid in between each one. And, each solid you hand quilt a bow tie, which will be sweet.

And, these are the ones I have made so far. These two have a vintage fabric bow tie, as I thought it would be fun to do a mix of vintage and new fabrics.

 The purple one is a vintage fabric, which I just love! I don't have a lot of purple in my stash, but have recently started collecting more! I look forward to sharing my progress on the quilt with you! It's such a relaxing and enjoyable process to hand sew each bow tie block and it will be a quilt of love!

I finished this pretty tote bag for my mom yesterday for a very late birthday present. I made it in some of her favorite colors, and some of my favorite prints. ;) It's all sweetly packaged and ready to be mailed out to her. Hope she likes it!!

patchwork and hand sewing

 Hello Sweet Friends!

Hope that you are all doing wonderful and enjoying these summer days! I have been busy working on projects and custom orders, which I have been loving! I have also become quite fond of Instagram, and you can peak over there as I usually post daily on what I am working on! :)

I finished this fruity patchwork place mat for a dear friend's sweet little girl. I really love all these cute fabrics together.

 I hand quilted it with perle cotton which I thought gave it a sweet touch. I am eager to try hand quilting with hand quilting thread on my next project! I am getting better with my stitches each time I do it!

 I made my first Dutch pinwheel for the Sew Sweet Bee for Kerri of Lovely Little Handmades.I had to fix a couple points after I took this photo before I sent it off to her, but I'm improving with my quilting skills and starting to get better at those corners to match up nicely. It isn't easy!:) And, I am happy that she likes how it turned out!! Love those colors together!!

 And, the newest project/sew-a-long that I am doing is learning how to hand sew/quilt a mini patchwork quilt with the sweetest and talented Wynn of ZakkaArt! I am so loving the process of drawing each shape, cutting with scissors, and hand sewing the pieces together with some of my favorite vintage needles! The 9-patch block was our first one, and...

 the Evening Star was our second. For this one I need to make another one where the star points stand out more, which I probably should have paid more attention to in the beginning, but it was a fun practice one to make! Maybe I will use this one on the backing of the quilt.;)

This sweet vintage cabinet was a recent find at the thrift store. I had actually had my eye on it for a month but didn't want to pay the price, so I was lucky it was still there and half off! A new place for all my fabrics in my sewing room!

hexies and patchwork

 Happy sweet day to you!

Hope your weekend was lovely and you are enjoying some wonderful spring weather. It has been beautiful here!

Well, I took a little "me" sewing time and finished up another hexie flower! I love those strawberries!

 So, there are 22 and I am thinking of going for one more row and then to the white ones. I am hoping for just a small lap size, since I want to hand quilt it. I am in no rush and it will definitely be worth the wait once it is finished!

I made this cute patchwork pillow for my mom in some of her favorite colors. There is just something about patchwork that I love, and I might be adding a couple ones to the shoppe soon, too!

 I have been on the hunt for some vintage lighter blue variegated thread and I finally found some. It is in size 30, which I have never used before, I always use size 10, so we'll see.

I also found some pretty vintage Daisy baby pink and yellow variegated in size 30, too. So, I guess I better start getting used to thinner thread!

a minty sweet hanger

 A very happy day to you!!

Hope that you are having a lovely start to the week and are enjoying some wonderful weather!

Over the weekend I worked on a custom order for some strawberry crocheted hangers for a sweet customer. So, being in the hanger mood, I knew it was time to attempt making one with crochet thread similar to the pretty vintage hangers that I found recently at an estate sale. And, I was surprised that it only took a little longer to make then the cotton yarn ones! Yay!

I crocheted it using a mint variegated thread, which I was excited about until I finished and really didn't like the way the colors were spread out. I was hoping for them to be vertical, but because I made a long chain instead of a short one, it made them horizontal. I tried doing it the shorter chain way, but then all the green ended up on one side and the whites on the other, so I gave up, for now! 

I am thinking that the older variegated thread had shorter lengths of the colors, so it looked more blended? It is still a mystery for now and sorry if I have thoroughly confused you with all this! ;) 

I added some pretty crocheted flowers and just love the sweet touch it gives the hanger. So, it was a good test run and I already have my next one planned, but this one will be a solid color! ;)

Another row of sixteen-patch quilts blocks are finished! Oh, I can't wait for this colorful quilt top to be done!! It just might be one of my favorites so far! What crafty or sewing goodness are you working on this week?

quilty goodness

 Happy Monday!

Hope that you had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed some lovely weather! It cooled down and even rained over the weekend, which was a nice break from the heat. Thank you all for your sweet and supportive comments on my new items!! You made my day brighter! 

Well, this weekend was quite productive with some quilty goodness!! I finished another barn block, and I'm really lovin' this one!

 I used some of my favorite fabrics and colors together and love how they all compliment each other so sweetly! 

 Only one more barn block to go and then I will be ready to finish my mini Barn Block quilt! 

 My hexie flowers are coming along and this one reminds me of the pretty springtime! 

As I was choosing the fabrics for the next flowers, I thought I would look at a book I have called Warman's Vintage Quilts to look at the vintage Grandmother's Flower Garden quilts to see how the flowers were placed. 

And, came to realize that I am going to have to make a lot more flowers to make a lap size quilt because they are not really in straight rows. These two above are doll quilts, and the ones below are larger sized quilts, and there are so many flowers! So, I am definitely in this project for the long haul! At least I love making them! 

I was thinking that I should start adding the white hexies to the ones I have to see how it is going to start forming and how many I'm really going to need. ;) 

So, the next fabrics are cut and ready to be made into a pretty flower! This quilt will definitely be a labor of love, but I know it will be so worth it in the end!

 And, because I am a girl of many projects, I started making some sweet sixteen-patch quilt blocks yesterday that were inspired by the beautiful quilt made by the most lovely and talented Hen of HenHouse! And, she is as sweet as can be to show you how she made her blocks here, which is super simple and they really become quite addicting! Thank you sweetest Hen for being such an inspiration! 

I am already looking forward to making some more and the best part is picking out the fabrics. And, it really is a great way to use those fabrics that have been waiting patiently to be used again. What projects are you working on this week?
