quilt blocks and a vintage baby quilt

A happy sweet day to you!
Hope you had a lovely weekend! I have been working on some custom orders, and planning some new items for my shoppe. I had a little me sewing time yesterday and made my first diamond star! After seeing all the gorgeous ones the lovely Jessie of Messy Jesse has made, I was eager to try my hand at some. My little hexie flowers will have to wait while I make some more stars! I need a little practice with the centers, but happy with how my first one turned out.
I made this star block for Jennie of Clover and Violet for her Sew Sweet Bee block. It is such a sweet block and hope she likes it!
Last week I found this little gem at the thrift store! A vintage baby quilt all hand appliqued and embroidered with sweet fruit kids!
It has real cotton inside, that is balled in the corners, so maybe one day I can redo it, but I think it just give it charm.
The pattern, Pee Dee Fruit Orchard kids, is from the 40's and it would be neat to find it so that I could make one, too! A sweet find!
I had some happy mail with these pretty fabrics from sweet Donna and her fabric shoppe, Donna's Lavender Nest! So pretty and I can't wait to play with them!

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my great grandma's pot holder! I need to get some brown yarn to make one, just like hers!

Wishing you all a beautiful and crafty week!! xo

some new treasures

 Happy Sweet Day!!
Hope you are having a lovely week so far! The weather has been quite hot, and is going to get even hotter later this week, which I am not loving. How's your weather?
Another beautiful pinwheel arrived from the sweet Missy of Missy's Homemaking Adventures. So pretty and she used two of my favorite prints! Thank you Missy!
These gorgeous fabrics arrived from the lovely Shay of Simply Sweet Fabric, and I am loving the new Old New 30's from Lecien! Aren't they so pretty!
She has this sweet bundle set in her shoppe, if you would like to play with one, too!! Thank you Shay for having such sweet fabrics!!
I found this cute laundry bag at a thrift store recently.
So cute, and these would be fun to recreate. ;)
My mom sent me some more family treasures, and these are some of of the sweet things. The precious doll belonged to my mom that my great grandmother gave her. The baby bottle, Bambi, the glove cleaner, and pretty plate were all my great grandmothers.
These tea sets and milk glass vase were also my great grandmothers. I look forward to having some tea in those sweet pastel sets! There were some more treasures, but it was too hot to take more photos. ;) I think that family treasures are the best ones to have!
I am finishing up a few more items for the shoppe and will be re-opening this Friday! Thank you for all your sweet comments on my cherries! I love how the pink ones turned out, and will be offering them as this cute set of 4 pairs!
So, I am off to work away, and will be back Friday with new shoppe goodies!
Wishing you a beautiful and crafty day! xo

a pretty pinwheel and my baby things

Happy sweet day to you!
Hope your Easter was wonderful! Well, another pretty pinwheel has arrived from Miss Donna of Donna's Lavender Nest. I love the two prints she chose. So sweet together!
And, some pretty fabrics from her fabric shoppe came with it, too. Thank you so much Donna! I really can't wait to see all these pretty pinwheels together!
My mom sent me a box of my baby things, as she is just simplifying the things she has, and thought it would be nice for me to enjoy them now. And, in the near future it will be fun for me to have them for when we have a baby. These were some cute little things, and...
my favorite are the Big Bird and Cookie Monster shoes!!
Keeping with the Sesame Street theme a cute baby sleeping bag that went in my crib and car seat.
A sweet ripple afghan that my great grandmother crocheted for me and it is so soft!
A little rosebud dress and bonnet, and
two cute pink outfits. The one on the left looked handmade, but then I saw a tag and it was made in Italy. Quite fancy! ;)
A cute quilted jumper that has some storage stains, so hopefully I can get them out.
My baby book and a little planter sign. All so sweet to have and treasure now and I am so happy my mom kept it all these years for me! Do you have your baby things?
So, I have been busy working and planning some new items for the shoppe. This cute vintage inspired clothespin bag is what I have been working on this past weekend, and they will be making their way into the shoppe in May. I really love how cute it came out. And, of course it wouldn't have been complete without a scalloped edging. ;)
I was so lucky to find some more of that pretty Pam Kitty Morning floral fabric that I used, because I ran out and Stacy from Strawberry Blossom Mercantile had some left along with some pretty Lecien floral. Yay!!

Well, I am off to go work away in my sewing room. Wishing you a lovely and creative week! xo

the letter "h"

 Happy Friday!
I am not really sure where this week went, but it definitely has been a busy one. My apologies if I haven't been by to visit, I am a little behind with working on a custom orders and new pretties for the shoppe.
For the Sew Sweet Bee, this month was the lovely Amy of A Quilting Sheep and she had us make our initial, which was fun to make! I hope Amy likes my letter "h"! ;)
And, I even had to make myself one just because it was so cute and I love green and aqua together. Not sure what I will do with it, but for now it will just hang in my sewing room. Next month is my turn!
I am working on a few pretty spring crocheted hangers for the shoppe. This is one that I just finished and there will be an aqua and pink one to follow.
I will be re-listing my spring crocheted eggs at the end of the month when my shoppe reopens!
They add such a sweet touch around the home for springtime!
Some happy mail has been arriving this week including these darling vintage transfers and
these gorgeous fabrics from the lovely Shay of Simply Sweet Fabric!! Looking forward to creating with these pretties!
I squeezed in a little time and made myself some new spring coasters! Love all these pretty floral prints together! I will be listing some sets in the shoppe soon, too!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and I hope that you are enjoying some springlike weather!

a busy kind of week

 Happy Sweet Day!
Hope that you are having a lovely week so far! It has been quite busy for me and it feels the days are just flying by. The weather has been so beautiful these last few days, and it is always hard not to go out and enjoy it! Have you been enjoying some wonderful weather, too?
Well, I made my second block for Donna's quilt sampler which you can find here and I am still just loving these Sidewalks prints! I actually messed up on this block and after some help from Donna (thank you!), I got it right, but didn't take a new photo. It is always the points that I seem to cut off! I am still learning, and I do love the process of it all! Thank you Donna for a sweet block!
Awhile back I bought this shelf at an estate sale, and I finally got it up in my kitchen! I am still playing around with putting things in it, and I am really looking forward to decorating it for Christmas! And, yes, I am eager for Christmas decorating and the season to begin as it is my favorite.
I dressed up this cute little silver tinsel tree for Halloween using some vintage images from sweet Meri (thank you Meri), along with some black and white scrapbook circles that I punched out.
I still need to make a little skirt for the tree, but for now a fall vintage hankie will do!
And, some peaks at the vintage Christmas pillow covers I am working on for the shoppe!
It will be a busy next few weeks trying to get everything done, so if I get a little quiet, you'll know I am busy working away in my workshop!
And, these gorgeous fabrics came this week from the sweet Shay of Simply Sweet Fabrics!!    Oh, how I can't wait to make some pretties with these!

With the cooler evenings it has been nice to work on my ripple blanket again, and it always keeps me warm as I work on it. What sweetness are you working on this week?

Wishing you all a beautiful and crafty rest of the week! And, thank you for stopping by! You always make my day brighter! I look forward to catching up with you! xo

little women

Happy Sweet Day!
Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on my new treasures and goodies! It has been a little busy for me, and I have been neglecting all my crafty projects, so sorry that is has been a little quiet around here and might be until November as I am working on Christmas items for my shoppe, which I look forward to showing you some sneak peaks soon!
I was able to venture to an estate sale of a 97 year old woman on Saturday, but unfortunately there really wasn't anything that caught my attention or old, but I did walk away with this 1911 edition of Little Women.
I love collecting old books and I have to admit that I have actually never read Little Women, but hopefully will be able to now! I am not a huge reader. I seem to always keep my hands too busy.
I thought this was a neat stamp in the back of the book from The May Company book store. The May Co. was a department store that was based in California starting in 1923. If they could have only stayed around!
Some more Workbasket magazines from 1948-1950 that I got on eBay and I look forward to sharing some neat things. I really just love the nostalgia of these magazines and reading them makes me feel like I am in that era! Oh, how fun would it be!
These Christmas card place settings were a gift from my mother-in-law which I was so excited to have!
They are so cute and small, and I look forward to having them out for Christmas!
The snowmen are my favorites, but I guess they are all pretty cute!
And, Christmas is coming very soon to my shoppe! I have been busy getting started on tea towels last week, and there will be many more pretty Christmas goodies!
I received some sweet mail last week! These lovely goodies I won from the most lovely Fran of Hey, Mom! What's For Dinner? which I was so excited about!
Candles, cookie cutters, and a cute Jack-O-Lantern spatula.
And, some darling hexies and a beautiful vintage feed sack!! Thank you so much Fran for having such a sweet giveaway!!
These pretties also arrived in the mail from the sweetest Donna of Donna's Lavender Nest!
A darling fat quarter bundle of the newest line by October Afternoon, Sidewalks, which I am absolutely in love with! And sweet Donna has this darling bundle as a Vintage Grey Blogger's Choice which you can find here in her shoppe! Thank you so much Donna!!
Aren't these prints just pure eye candy! I can't wait to make something pretty with them and I can tell you it might be a little hard to cut into them, though! ;) If you haven't had a chance to get some of these prints, make sure you head over to Donna's shoppe, Donna's Lavender Nest to get some for your fabric stash!

Miss Donna is also going to be having a quilt sampler of 12 sweet blocks where she will be posting one a week with a tutorial, starting this Wednesday, October 16th. So, if you are interested in joining in this quilting fun, pop on over to Donna's blog for more information. I know that I am looking forward to this sewing goodness!

Well, I am off to work on some things and catch up with all of you! Wishing you all a beautiful and creative week dear friends!
