sweet deer and fawn pillow

 Hello and Happy September!
I hope that you are doing wonderfully and enjoying the last days of summer!
I wanted to share this sweet vintage deer and fawn pillow I recently finished! It seemed like it took me months to get it stitched, as I just worked on it in my down time from shoppe items. I decided on a sweet floral binding and it now has a lovely spot in my home!
I started to take out some fall items to decorate, as I am eager for those cooler and crisp days! This is one of my favorite vintage hankies that I have found and I love taking it out for fall. I'm working on some new fall items for the shoppe and will be posting towards the end of the month once I know an exact date/time I will be listing them in my shoppe!

Thank you for visiting with me and wishing you a most lovely day! xo

hello

Hello and a happy sweet day to you!
Hope that you are doing wonderfully and having a fabulous start to the new year! I have been busy working away on some special projects and new pretties for the shoppe.
A new item that I have been working on are these sweet vintage inspired dresden hot pads/trivets. I went with the old way of hand stitching a circle piece of batting and fabric on the back and a blanket stitch around the center. I am really happy with how they turned out!
A sweet vintage feed sack in the middle adds a sweet touch to them! They were fun to make and the striped one I tried out for fun, but loved how it turned out. Might have to make a pink one, too!
I also made a pretty dresden pillow cover that will be in the shoppe soon, too! Doilies are always my favorite to add to the center to add a vintage touch!
This sweet Royal Copley doe and fawn vase is a lovely new addition to my home that I just love! Added some vintage plastic roses in it for now until spring. I am also working on a vintage stitching of a doe and fawn in this same pose, that I hope to be finishing soon to share.

I look forward to sharing some more projects with you and will be having a shoppe update in early February. Thank you for stopping by and visiting with me!
Wishing you a most lovely weekend! xo

a most lovely singer featherweight

Happy sweet day to you!
How are you doing? It has been such a busy month for me with my shoppe, and I am so grateful and appreciative of my amazing and sweet customers for all their love and support of my handmade business this year. They have blessed me so!!
My shoppe is now closed for the holiday season and will be reopening in the new year. I am looking forward to relaxing and recharging for the year ahead. I still have some gifts to finish up and projects to work on for myself, so my hands are never quite resting. ;)
Well, Christmas has come a little early for me this year!! I am happy to be the new owner of my first Singer Featherweight sewing machine given to me by my lovely mother. My great grandmother gave it to her, and now she has passed it on to me which I am so excited about!
I looked up the serial number to find out what year it was made, and it was "born" on June 26, 1947. I guess they all have birthdays which is fun to know!
The detailing on the face plate and gold pin-stripping all over adds such a beautiful and special touch! They really are such amazing little machines!
So, I am completely in love with it and can't wait to oil it and start sewing away! I am beyond thrilled to have this family heirloom to treasure now.

Hope that you are doing wonderfully and enjoying the holiday season! Thank you for stopping by and visiting with me!
Wishing you a most lovely week and Merry Christmas!

pinwheel quilt and new treasures

Hello sweet friends!
Hope that you are enjoying some lovey autumn weather! It has finally cooled down and I have been enjoying those crisp cool autumn days and nights.
I was so excited the other day to get some happy mail with my pinwheel quilt arriving back from the talented and sweet Donna of Donna's Lavender Nest who so beautifully quilted it for me! I just love how it turned out! She did such an awesome job!!
Here is a peak at the back. I used a vintage sheet which I just love using, and found some of these pretty aqua stripes for the binding. I can't wait to get it all finished, so I can start cuddling up with it!
So, this is my newest treasure that I am loving! I have been wanting a small chalkboard for awhile, and actually passed one up that was smaller than this at estate sale because of the price. Well, the other day at the thrift store, this beauty was waiting for me to bring it home and for under $5! It is meant to hang on the wall and not really sure of the history. Maybe it hung in a classroom or store?
So, I had a little practice on my chalkboard art for Halloween. It's not the best, but hopefully I'll get better. I am not great when it comes to drawing. ;) And, you can see my first little Gurley witch girl candle that I found, too. Her face is gone, but she's still cute!
This is another recent find that I am so looking forward to getting stitched up for the holidays. I have been on the look for this pattern, and how fun to have it already stamped, and ready to stitch away!

Well, thank you for all your lovely comments on my new autumn pretties! I have been working away on custom orders, and will soon be starting my Christmas goodies.

Wishing you all a most lovely weekend, and thank you so much for coming by to visit with me! xo Heather

autumn is here

Happy Autumn!
So happy that fall is here! Our weather is still a little warm, but hopefully soon those crisp, cool days will be here! I have been super busy with getting my fall items for the shoppe made and ready for my reopening in early October.
I celebrated my "32" birthday a couple weeks ago and spent a nice quite day just relaxing. My mom sent me a birthday box full of family treasures. These sweet Pyrex bowls were a wedding gift when my parents got married. So, I am excited to have them now and they are perfect for fall!
I went to a antique shop and treated myself to these sweet peach vintage canisters. I'll have to keep my eye out for the other sizes to complete the set!
I finished my mini apple wall quilt! I hand quilted it, so it took a little longer, but love how it turned out!
And, to finish it off I used a sweet apple print for the binding. I am thinking of starting a little mini quilt for each season, so maple leaves are up next!
A few peaks at what will be in my shoppe coming early October for fall!! Pretty vintage tablecloth floral appliqué tea towels,
pretty maple leaf coasters,
fall pillow covers, and lots more! I will be posting once it gets closer to my shoppe reopening!

I hope that you are all doing wonderfully!! I have lots of catching up to do! I am on Instagram daily, so you can pop on over and visit with me there, too!

Wishing you all a beautiful first week of autumn!! xo

catching up

 Hello Sweet Friends!
Happy September!! Hope that you are doing wonderful! I have been busy working away on projects, custom orders, and planning new fall and Christmas pretties for the shoppe.
I made a couple more hand sewn bow ties for my baby quilt that I am working on. They are quick and relaxing to make!
I am catching up on my blocks for ZakkaArt's #handsewpatchwork sew-a-long. I have a couple more to go and then I will be caught up!
I have been making some pretty custom Dahlia pot holders, which I really love making! I am thinking of doing some pretty autumn and Christmas ones. And, yes I am already planning Christmas early this year for my shoppe because time always just flies so fast after September, so I want to get a head start this year.
I made this sweet vintage inspired Sunbonnet Sue needle keep for a dear friends birthday.
The one on the right is the vintage one I used as my template. I made the flowers different using small felt circles, and added a some hand stitching to the bottom of the dress. I plan to make a few more as, they were so fun to make, and pretty cute!
I came across these neat 1940's appliqué transfer patterns that I can't wait to try out! I really love the kitchen shelf tea towels.
Found this cute painted farm table runner at the thrift store. I would love to stitch it up sometime, but I am not sure I will ever get to it now, I might just leave it or I was even thinking of making them into pillow covers. So, we'll see! ;)
And, I received some pretty mail from sweet Shay of Simply Sweet Fabric! Love all these colors!! You can find them all at her lovely shoppe!

Wishing you all a lovely week and start to the new month! I am so looking forward to autumn and cooler weather! How about you? Thank you for stopping by and visiting with me! xo

friendship dahlia

Hello and happy sweet day to you!
It has been a busy couple weeks working on some new pretties for my last summer update for the shoppe, and working on some new projects, too!
I learned from the help of a sweet new blogging friend how to make my first traditional hand appliquéd Dahlia, which I am quite excited about and think it turned out pretty cute for my first one. I basted the feed sack petals, stitched them down, and for the center I did needle turn, which I can definitely use some more practice with. I really am enjoying all the hand sewing. It really makes me slow down and not rush to get something finished.
It all started with this booklet where I saw the Friendship Dahlia quilt pattern.
I really loved how pretty it was, so I thought I would give it a try and cut the pieces out, but I was so confused on how to make the petals with the curved seam since I am so used to making hexies and diamonds. Well, I came across the lovely and talented Martha of Q is for Quilter and saw that she had made one awhile back, so I thought I would ask for a little help.
Well, she was so sweet to explain how she made it, and even sent me her beautiful Dahlia and some beautiful feed sack petals so I could make a small Friendship Dahlia doll quilt!! I was quite excited! I am so blessed by the sweetness, help, and generosity of this blogging community! Thank you so much Martha! And, I can't wait to make some more! ;) Oh, I finally found my first aqua Pyrex dish at the the thrift store the other day. Yay!!
I am still working on some sweet bow ties and made a couple of minty and grey ones.
I love mixing the feed sacks with newer fabrics!
I made this sweet patchwork puppy pot holder for a gift for a lovely friend. I love how the patchwork turned out, and I will be adding a couple to my shoppe, too!
These beautiful fabrics arrived from the sweetest Shay of Simply Sweet Fabric. The first three are from Darlene Zimmerman's new Lazy Daisy Baskets which I just love the pastel colors.
I have been making some new vintagey aprons for the shoppe and been having so much fun! This one I used part of a vintage fruity tablecloth. I will be having one last summer update in the shoppe in the next week or so, and then I will be on to apples for fall! I am kinda looking forward to the cooler, crisp weather!

Thank you for visiting with me today, and I am so behind in catching up with you, but will be doing it over the weekend!
Wishing you a most lovely and crafty summers week!! xo
