a pretty quilt top and gift

Happy Sweet Monday! Hope that you had a wonderful weekend!
On Saturday, I finished the quilt top, and I am lovin' how it turned out! All the colors are so cheery together, and it just brings a happy smile to my face.
I used some of my favorite vintage fabrics and feed sacks, which was a great way to use them up and be displayed. Now, I need to decide on the backing and binding fabric. For the quilting, I was thinking doing some hand stitching in the fabric squares or tying it with a cream thread. What would you do?
I made a sweet pink variegated rose pot holder, and I think that this style is my favorite. I love the lacy look to it. I am now offering custom orders for vintage rose pot holders in my shoppe. These would make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself! ;)
A little sneak peak of my latest project. Sweet gingham and cross-stitching!! Oh my!
Last week some pretty mail from my dear friend Paula of Sweet Victoria Rose. I could not wait to open all those pretty packages! She is so talented and has such a generous and beautiful heart!!
Inside was a darling vintage toaster cover, a beautiful vintage table runner, cute yellow buttons, and a pretty handmade brooch that Paula made!

Also, this gorgeous vintage cross-stitched apron!! So adorable! Oh, how I love vintage aprons!
I adore Paula's creations, and was so excited to open one of the packages to find this precious doll and vintage heart inside that she so perfectly made! The heart is gorgeous, and I love the pink and green rose feed sack with the sweet crocheted flowers! She definitely knows how to make my day brighter!
And, I have to say that I just love this doll so much! All the details are so perfect, with her darling outfit, pink shoes, sweet face, and heart lips!! Too cute! Thank you so much Paula for sending me such treasures!! I love them all!! Make sure you take a little visit to Paula's inspiring and beautiful blog and etsy shoppe!! I know you will love her, as much as I do!

Wishing you a lovely and creative week!

  4. Hello Heather,

The quilt, the potholder, the stitching: I love it all! Very lovely.
And the vintage finds from your last posts are amazing... BTW ~ I saw someone was looking for a pattern for the potholders from that post. The pattern for a potholder similar to the white & aqua one can be found here: http://knitting-and.com/crochet/potholders/petticoat-fever.html
    And the flower potholder: http://www.bestfreecrochet.com/2010/11/21/vintage-daisy-potholder-free-crochet-pattern/

  10. Looking at the quilt top makes me feel happy. The way you coordinated the pieces is perfection. The pot holder is another work of art. I was at an antique store on Saturday and saw some vintage pot holders--none were nearly as beautiful as yours. :)

  17. You've shared so many beautiful pieces of old and new vintagey goodness over the last couple of days! I adore the 'old' round cushion and the 'new' aqua/green/cream potholder and your newest dolly and quilt cover. Keeping the quilting really simple would keep the focus on those gorgeous pieces of embroidery and the lovely patterns on the fabric, I think.

  25. Hey there, Heather! Your quilt top is so very pretty. Love how you mix patterns and color so beautifully! What is so ironic is when you said that you were mixing gingham and cross-stitch, I had the same idea in my head as I had seen some image out there in blog land and thought what a great idea but I don't have any gingham fabric, only gingham contact paper in red and white that I've used as a backing for framed cross-stitched pieces. I love how your little stitching turned out on the green and white gingham. And all your gifts from Paula are so perfect for you. Enjoy! Have a great day! Tammy

  33. Oh Heather, this is so, so beautiful, I love it! I have a vintage table cloth too and was thinking of doing something with it and what you've done is very inspiring. The other fabrics and feedsack prints really set it off beautifully! It's hard to say which would look best out of hand quilting an tied, tough decision but on the plus side I bet both would look great. Lovely gifts too, you lucky thing :-)

  36. Hello sweet and beautiful Heather! I love your quilt! It is beautiful and cheerful! It would be lovely hand quilted or tied! If you enjoy hand quilting I would go with that, but if you want it done quicker the tying would be pretty too! Sweetie, the rose variegated pot holder is gorgeous!!!
