vintage red apples

Oh, how I am so ready for summer to be over, and the crisp fall to be here! How about you? I stopped off at a little thrift store and found this beautiful vintage red apple bread box.
It was hiding underneath a shelf, just waiting for me to bring it home! The patina is just gorgeous! I just love rusty goodness!
This is my first bread box, and I know it won't be my last. I am not sure of the era, but I would assume from 30's-50's. What do you think?
Awhile back I bought this pretty vintage apple flour sifter. The apples on this are so bright, and it is in such great condition.
I have always wanted to use one of these to make a pie or some sweet treat. Maybe one day I will find one with less rust inside! They sure don't make sifters like this anymore! Do you have any neat vintage sifters?
Wishing you all a lovely and cheery day!

sweet strawberries

Well, I finally found the perfect enamelware container for my vintage strawberry decals I bought awhile back.
What do you think? I was so excited when I found this red and white container, and that it was complete with a lid!
They were meant to be together, and the strawberries add just the sweetest touch.
Perfect for the summertime, and would be cute for a summer picnic with yummy treats inside!
Speaking of yummy treats...I made these strawberry and rosemary scones for a lunch I was having with a friend, and they were so delicious! Another sweet blogger shared making them, and even though I don't bake very often, they were so tempting.
Here is the recipe link if you want to give make some! I didn't make the icing that is calls for, and I used unbleached flour, and maple sugar, which I just love!
Of course, you have to have tea with your scones, so I thought I would share one of my favorite teas. It is delightful with cream and during the summer it makes a lovely iced tea.

a little red

One of my favorite treasures purchased at an estate sale was this sweet red Mellomints tin!! The graphics are gorgeous, and I just love the sweet oval shape!
I am not sure exactly what they date of this tin is, but I looked into the trademark and it was registered in 1916. I can only imagine what it would have been like to purchase these mints for only 10 cents!! Oh, how I wish to go back in time!
They were made by the Brandle & Smith Co in Philadelphia, PA, and I found that they came in many other flavors such as lime, wintergreen, orange, and I am sure more!! So fun!! Would you like some Mellomints today?
This sweet red cookie platter is so unique and pretty, and was a favorite flea market find!! It is made out of metal, and it was painted red, so I am not sure what the original color was. I love having it out for family gatherings or when friends come over with delicious cookies or other treats!!
I adore the gorgeous design, and how it folds up to make a pretty display on my bookshelf when I am not using it!
I hope that you are having a beautiful week!! The sun is shining brightly today, and there is even a cool breeze! Summer is almost here!! ;)
