Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was lovely!
If you missed last Monday's recipe, I will be sharing a vintage recipe each Monday with you as the holidays are approaching. The vintage recipe today is for an Apple Brown Betty. Yummy! A perfect fall dessert and very simple to make! I could eat some right now with a cup of tea! If you get a chance to make it, let me know how you liked it!
Today was a lucky day at a couple thrift stores with some sweet Christmas treasures. These adorable snowmen and Santa felt ornaments are the cutest! I am not sure how old they are and they look handmade, but are labeled "made in Japan". Any ideas?
These two were in a huge pile of Christmas ornaments, and I thought they were so fun! Love the plastic edging!
And, when I saw this box of Shiny Brites, with all the ornaments scattered, I was so excited!
Some fun packaging goodies and bottle brush wreaths.
Another full box Shiny Brites and Holly ornaments! My collection is finally growing, but now I need to find a larger tinsel tree to put them all on! ;)
Some pretty blue floral fabric, and crocheted hangers ready for a makeover. Today was definitely a good day for treasures! Have you found any sweet treasures?
Wishing you all a wonderful and creative week!
Let's all be keeping those on the East Coast impacted by Hurricane Sandy in our prayers!!
you did do well, lovely treasures!!

DeleteI do love vintage Christmas! I've never seen the little pair of ornaments before -- so cute with their plastic 'tatted' edging. I'm so excited the thrift stores are finally putting Chrsitmas items out! It helps ease the pain of the end of garage sale season.

ReplyDeleteJust look at all your darling vintage ornaments. They remind me so much of my sweet Gramma. Every years she would lovingly make one for each one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There were so many of us and yet, she never stopped giving them to us each year for Christmas. I miss her so much. I wonder if they make Christmas ornaments in heaven?
ReplyDeleteBlessings and so many thanks for all your loving comments on my blog.
You are a treasure!
Blessings,
Carolynn xoxo

DeleteThat recipe is sort of like what everyone calls an apple crisp now -- have never seen a dessert recipe with bread crumbs. And that's a lot of bread crumbs. Very interesting. You sure found a lot of goodies. Hope you are having a wonderful day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is kinda similar. I think it is from the 50's, if not earlier. I just bought some apples to give it a try, so we'll see! Thank you!! Have a great day! xo Heather

DeleteI love all the vintage Christmas ornaments you found. That skiing snowman is adorable! And there is nothing better in the fall than an apple betty! When I was a kid I used to think that was one of the best desserts, because I had an Aunt Betty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of festive treats, Heather! I loved seeing the shiny brites!
