strawberries and grannies

It has been such a busy, but beautiful sunny day today!! I bought these beautiful vintage strawberry tea towels on Etsy last week!! I just fell in love with the colors, and sweet design with the adorable butterflies!. They are designed by Luther Travis. I have never heard of him, until I bought these beauties! I can't wait to crochet an edging on them!! Perfect for the summertime!

On Sunday, I finally was able to make my first granny square quilt block! It is not too bad for my first one! The pattern is really simple, and so fun to sew together! I just love how they look!! I am going to try to do one every Sunday! My goal will be 20 blocks!

I also had a chance to crochet two more granny squares for my blanket I started awhile back. Remember these..

Along with my granny square blocks, I am going to make a pair of these grannies each Sunday, too!! It will be a 'Granny Sunday'! ;)  I am looking forward to getting the quilt and blanket finished by summer! We'll see!!

I hope that you have had a wonderful start to the week!! ;)

For the granny quilt blocks, here is the link to the talented lady I believe created the pattern, http://blueelephantstitches.blogspot.com/2012/01/granny-square-quilt-block-tutorial.html

  8. You did a great job on that quilt block! I'm going to tell you how I keep my corners exactly even. It's a slower process, but I never have to worry about my seams not lining up perfectly. After I sew one row and go to add it to the first one, I line up the corners from the right side, turn it over and loop stitch about three stitches to keep it stationary, in each corner. Then when I have the whole row done, I sew across. Works every time! Looks like you didn't have any problem though.

    1. Thank you so much for your tip!! That part was hard, because my corners are not really even, and I had to cut it more to make them more even. I have the hardest time lining up seams for patchwork. What do you do for ironing seams? I can't wait to try this on my next granny!! ;) xo Heather

  18. Granny squares! I have a half-baked project somewhere in the art room and think I will hunt it up. I like your approach, one square a Sunday, so not to turn it into a marathon. I need to learn to think that way.
