Happy Sweet Day!!
Hope that you have been having a lovely week so far! I have been working on a little embroidery project for my dear friends who just had a precious baby girl last week!! This was on my mind to make, but I just had to wait until she was born! And, I will actually be seeing her today! Yay!
I thought this little vintage lamb pattern was so sweet and I loved all the pretty flowers. This had quite a lot of french knots and they have always been my least favorite stitch, until I came across this awesome tutorial from Sublime Stitching, and it finally clicked on how to make a real knot. I was thrilled to be able to make a true french knot, and now I kinda enjoy doing them! Crazy, I know! ;)
The little lambie came from this vintage Vogart embroidery pattern booklet that I bought recently. That kitty and the honey bears are so darn cute! I can't wait to have a reason to stitch them up. It was a little hard doing the face, and I ended up having to use one strand of embroidery floss. So, maybe I can just stitch some of these up for practice! ;)
I added some pretty vintage lace to the top to give it a vintage touch, and it is sweetly wrapped and ready to give to baby Naomi! Next on my list is to make my second barn block and work on some hexie flowers, along with some other cute vintage embroideries. My ripple blanket is going to have to wait a little longer for a cooler day. Are you working on any crafty goodness?
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week and weekend!!
How very sweet, a thoughtful gift that will be treasured, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this, it tugged at my heartstrings as my great grandmother would always call me her 'lambie pie'.
I am currently sewing a mans work apron for my hubby..(shhh, don't tell) to give him for father's day.
Have a lovely weekend my friend. xo
What a beautiful keepsake.

Oh darling Heather, what a very beautiful gift for Naomi, I think it is gorgeous!! I love the Vogart pattern booklet, especially the little kittens and the bunny, they are all so sweet and I am sure you will have heaps of fun working them. Thanks for the link to the french knot, now we can all learn to do it in style. It sounds like you have heaps going on at once, enjoy and yes the idea of working a blanket in the heat doesn't appeal, I do so wish we had some of that lovely warm weather over here though. Have a lovely and creative week xoxo

Love that little lamb, and the French knots were the first thing I noticed. I really love making French knots - I think my nanny taught me when I was so little that I feel like I've always known how to make them. They're pretty fun!
ReplyDeleteJust adorable. She will be delighted! I never seem to find time to embroider any more but never could master the french knot when I did. I think many have the same problem and will appreciate you sharing the tutorial. You are a good egg! 8+)

ReplyDeleteHello my sweet Heather! I LOVE this sweetie! It is so beautiful and adorable! The little lamb is precious! This will be treasured by your friend! You are so creative love! You did a beautiful job stitching it and with the French knots. I remember how happy I was when I learned to do a French knot! :) Mine aren't as pretty as yours, so I think I will look at that tutorial. I love the vintage pattern you used! Eeep! It is so sweet and I love all the little animals. You will have so much fun! I also love how you embroidered this on pink gingham! ReplyDeleteHi Heather! Oh, this is just so charming! I love the old vintage embroidery patterns. I have quite a few oldies myself. I started embroidering when I was a young girl! :) I'm old now. I just think this is so sweet and gives me an idea for my grand daughter and grand baby to be.
