I love finding such lovely needle books. The graphics are so neat with the women sitting around sewing and talking. What fun!
The insides are so pretty with the different colored foil. There was such detail put into packaging and selling items back then, whatever happened to those days. ;)
Some fun flashbulbs!! Love the sweet image, and the colors!!
And, to my surprise all the bulbs were inside! Aren't they such a great color of blue, with the sparkly inside. These would be fun to use for some decoration for the 4th of July. Any ideas?
I got this sweet toy for my husband, and just adore the graphics. The cute boy flying his plane, and all the different fonts are so neat.
It has a factory sealed guarantee. And, when I opened this box...
All the parts were inside, including the decals for the jet fighter! It is ready to be put together, and I kinda want to do it. Seems fun! ;)
Some new calicos and reproduction feed sacks to play with, now that is my kind of fun!! Have a wonderful day!!
Those blue flashbulbs bring back memories of Christmas : )
ReplyDeleteAren't they so fun! So glad they brought back sweet memories for you! xo Heather
DeleteYou find the best things! Those flash bulbs are great, I got a 'flash' back of temporary blindness of my youth, haha.
ReplyDeleteI bet your hubby is thrilled with his new treasure.
You'll sure have fun with that stack of fabric..I know you have something wonderful planned. xo
Oh, how funny! Yes, he is, and I have already started cutting into the fabrics! Enjoy your knitting! xo Heather

ReplyDeleteTammy
Yes, if you need one, let me know! I can send it your way! How fun would that be! xo Heather
DeleteSewing Susan...a girl can dream about sitting around a table and sewing like old friends right! I have some of those darling cards and I love them. Your bulbs and toy plane are fantastic finds. I love a neatly stacked fabric photo...just a page of fun here...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteThank you.. one of my of dreams is to have a small store, and have sewing and crocheting circles one night a week. Wouldn't that be fun! My only exception is that there has to be sweet grandma's who can join and teach their skills! ;) xo Heather
DeleteLove the graphics on the needle books!! How great are the flashbulbs. Perhaps you can display them in a vase or something like that with a few small flags set in the display...the fabrics not too bad either!!
ReplyDeletechris
Thank you Chris! That is a great idea! xo Heather
DeleteGreat finds! I have a couple of the Sewing Susan needle books and don't you just have to wonder how she can use a thread that long and not get it tangled up?? That Susan, she rocked!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that! How funny.. I don't know how she did it either. She did rock! ;) xo Heather
DeleteI would not have thought those light bulbs would have been blue either - but totally perfect for the fourth. Thinking cap on..
ReplyDeleteI know, what an great blue for flashbulbs! Thanks.. I am thinking, too. Have a lovely weekend! xo Heather

ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!! Thank you Jean!! xo Heather

DeleteDearest Heather,
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you have had treasure hunting! It's funny...I can remember the "pop" that came when those blue flash bulbs would light up! Oh, so many years ago....
I am looking forward to seeing what wonderful things you create with all those dreamy fabrics!
Have a sweet weekend,
Carolynn x x x
Hi Sweet Carolynn! Thank you so much. What a wonderful memory... Love hearing them! Have a beautiful weekend! xo Heather
DeleteWhat lovely treasures! I would so adore being part of a vintage sewing circle like the ones depicted on those sweet needle cases. *happy sigh* I quite agree with you! If only packaging today were as attentive to detail as it was back then.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I know, wouldn't it be so wonderful! Wishing you a beautiful weekend! xo Heather
DeleteSuch lovely "finds."
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! xo Heather
DeleteWow those are some items from the past. I have an old package of needles, just like that kind. What a cool find.
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun, are they great to have!! xo Heather
DeleteMy goodness you found some neat stuff. Sylvania flash bulbs ... now that'll take you back. Packaging these days is just throwaway like most of the items you buy. Nothing lasts for long or is appreciated as much as it was back then. Have fun with your goodies and have a lovely weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThanks!! So sad, isn't it! Hope you weekend is lovely, too, and you have some good weather. ;) xo Heather
DeleteThese are such amazing finds, in such great condition too!
ReplyDeleteThought you would like an update on that cute little bungalow I kept blogging about... well he turned down our offer and a higher offer from someone else and has decided to sell it at auction with quite a high reserve. I'm fairly sure it wont sell and part of me thinks eventually he will give up and accept our offer, who knows, if it's meant to be! xxxxx
Thank you for letting me know about the bungalow. Such a bummer, but keep your eye out because it could go back on the market after the auction, and he will accept you offer. Let me know what happens!! xo Heather
DeleteI loved this post, Heather! I too love coming across old packaging and seeing old graphics....the sewing ones especially appeal to me and I always feel thrilled if I find an old needlbook. You have some lovely examples there!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Helen x
Aw, thank you so much Helen! Your always leave such sweet comments. I always get so excited too finding the old needle books. Have a beautiful week! xo Heather
DeleteLove that second Sewing Susan card. The two women on the right side look just as started as I am about the length of Susan's thread!
ReplyDeleteThanks, isn't it fun. They do indeed! ;)... xo Heather
DeleteThose old flash bulbs I think Laurie over at Magpie Ethel could give you some real good ideas for these. I love your fabric too what a great find that is. I made a quilt out of feed sack repo's two of them actually and they are my all time favorites! Nan
ReplyDeleteThank you Nan! Laurie has her thinking cap on for me! ;) She is so creative! Ooh, your feed sack quilt sounds beautiful!! I just love these repro prints, too!! Have a beautiful week! xo Heather
DeletePretty vintage packaging gets to me too! I wish they put the same detail and effort into today's. I just found some vintage sewing items myself. I was really happy to find them. Your light bulbs are neat! Maybe you could add them to a wreath! I would want to put that plane together, too! What fun is a box of parts? They would be so fun displayed together. Plane and box. Love your cheerful squares.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Susie
