sweet progress

Hope your 4th of July was wonderful! I had time yesterday to work on some projects. The pretty blue birds are getting the finishing touch, and I am looking forward to seeing it all done! ;)
My last granny squares are complete! I think this is one of my favorite quilt patterns that I have done. I just love all the colors together!

And here are all 20 pretty grannies! Now, I just need to figure out where they will all go, and start cutting strips to put in between them. I already bought a vintage sheet for the backing, and I am planning on hand quilting it. So, hopefully it will not take too long to finish. ;)
Hope you are having a lovely day!!

  4. I just love your little birdy embroidery and the clips you used to put up your sweet quilting squares. I wish I knew how to quilt but the sewing gene skipped by generation much to my mama's chagrin! Blame it on the meanie home ec teachers! Hope you had a great 4th!

  20. Heather...
yet again, you impress me with your talents!

Love those quilt squares. Reminds me of all the quilts that my sweet grandma would make for us kids. I still have a few of her quilts.
The fabric that she used was a lot of times from things she had on hand... old aprons, dresses that were wore out, etc.
    Precious.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Smiles :)

  22. What a lovely header you have, and I love that first photo with the bluebirds! It reminds me of when I was a little girl and my mom embroidered the big white collar of one of my dresses with birds. It was my 'happy as a lark' dress, and I haven't thought of it in years! Thanks for the nice memory. I'm your newest follower. Hope you can follow back?
