a sewing caddy

So, luckily the weather has cooled down a little, which I am so happy about. It is hard when you don't have central air. :)
This little sewing caddy was a sweet find at the flea market on Sunday. It is in a little rough shape, but I just adore the design in the wood and the size. I have a larger one from my great grandmother that I love. This could be the start of another collection. Oh my!
And for $5, I couldn't pass it up! I just order some Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, from a local store which I am really excited to use. I have so many wooden pieces that need to be brought back to prettiness!
I also brought home some lovely crocheted potholders. I am going for a whole wall of these in my kitchen. I have 12 so far, so maybe another 12 more..
You probably saw this gorgeous enameled bowl with my new crocheted hangers! I love it, especially with the aqua rim!
I have some good news to share with you...I will be doing my first boutiques coming up at the end of September and the beginning of November. I am super excited!! I will be posting more information when it get's closer, and if you are in the So. Cal area would love for you to come out!
So, I bought this bowl to be part of my display. I thought it would be cute to lay some of my tea towels in it. What do you think? I have so many ideas, and a lot of sewing and crocheting to do. I would love your prayers as I prepare for these, as I am really nervous, but know the Lord is in control!
I have to make my booth backdrop, so off to Lowe's I go this week to get some wood and chicken wire. I'll be giving you little sneak peaks as it comes along.
And, of course I still have to do other projects, right? I started a new granny, it is called Waterlily. I love the peach, white and pop of orange together. I am planning to do a small throw for the couch. These squares are about 8 inches, so it will only take about 15 or so to make one. I am going to plan to do one a week. We'll see how it goes.
This awesome stamp came in the mail yesterday. I love stamps, and this one is so great for doing phrases! Do you have any favorite stamps?

Hope you are all having a beautiful and creative day!

I'm linking up with Liz of The Blue Eyed Owl for Thrift Score Thursday! Head on over to check out some more treasures!

  8. Forgot to answer your question! On my home page of my blog, my Sadieloohoo logo has a stamp of a little boy and girl. It is my favourite stamp and the one I use on my clothing labels. I just love it. I originally bought it to do birthday invitations for one of my little ones.

  10. Great finds! I love the shape to the sewing box, too. I also accumulate the little potholders but don't display them nicely as you do. I use mine for coasters. Congratulations and good luck with the show. You have a great eye and I'm sure your customers will agree!!

  12. Heather, I have a little sewing box exactly like that one. I keep all my embroidery floss in it. I have thought about painting mine too, as it's pretty scratched up, but I haven't talked myself into it yet. I love those crocheted potholders. I collect the ones on the cool side of the color wheel. And your new floral crocheted block is gorgeous!! I wish I lived nearby so I could come to see your display.

    1. Oh, how neat!! That is a great idea storing your floss in there. I might have to do the same, since mine is so unorganized. Thank you so much!! xo Heather

    1. Thank you so much Gina! I use 100 % Acrylic, cotton, and wool yarn. The acrylic yarn for the grannies that I found to be great is from Hobby Lobby called I Love This Yarn, http://shop.hobbylobby.com/store/item.aspx?ItemId=150666. The I Love Cotton Yarn is great, too! xo heather

  21. Hi sweet Heather,
I have enjoyed each thing you have shared on your post! Oh...I can hardly wait to see the "after" of your wonderful sewing caddy. I just know it's going to be something special after you give it a pretty new face!
Your tea towels are so pretty with their dainty trimmings. And, I agree, they will look perfect displayed in your enamelware tub. I love the new granny square you have crocheted. It looks so old fashioned.
I'd love to purchase stamp like the one you shared. I've not seen one with anything but numbers.
I hope you have a blessed weekend and thank you for your thoughtful comments on my Cottage Nest post.

It is the greatest because we always know it holds the needles and tread and pins and scissors. I'll take a snap of it for you soon. nigh nigh
