sweet granny blanket...

Happy Wednesday and the first day of August! July really flew by!
Last night I finished putting together my granny square blanket! It was such a great feeling to see these sweet squares all together as my first crocheted blanket.
I love all the pretty colors with the creamy white border. It is the perfect lap size blanket, ready for the cooler weather.
I am looking forward to making many more, and I already have ideas for my next one! I love quilting, but the process for crocheting a blanket is a lot quicker, and it can be done anywhere I go, which I like.
So, the last finishing touch is crocheting a scalloped border! This sweet granny blanket will definitely be treasured in my home.
I am also working on a little project for my home that I should be finishing up soon. I always have projects going to keep my hands busy. ;) Are you the same?
I have been wanting to find some California hankies, and I finally did on Etsy. Love the colors! And, of course I have a project in mind for these pretties. What projects are you working on?
Wishing you a beautiful day sweet friends!!

  5. Heather, Your granny square blank is just lovely!! I don't crochet but my friends who do, agree with you...so nice to be able to crochet anywhere, any time! The hankies are so special, can't wait to see what you do with them. I have to finish friendship tags, and finish the binding on a baby quilt when I get home from Atlanta.

  21. Your granny blanket is so pretty. I love all the color combinations. Granny squares are so easy and crochet can go with you wherever you go. Love that! I see a little cross-stitching there. Looks great with that black and white fabric backing it. You know I am busy, busy with hook and needle in hand. So fun to create! Best wishes, Tammy

  26. Heather, it is gorgeous! I love the colors! Did you join the squares with a slip stitch or do you use a yarn needle? I am trying to figure out which way I want to join one that I am slowly working on, too. Just wondering which method others like the best before I get that far. I am like you, in that I have to keep my hands busy. It is almost like a nervousness if I am not! And crocheting is the perfect answer! Because it is portable, I can take it to my kids karate class, or whatever. Right now, I am working on embroidering by my small emb machine the logos on several shirts for my son's charter school. I do it for his and a few other people to make a little extra supply money. It's not the funnest, but it will keep me busy for a little while! Oh, yes, love the hankies.. really nice!

    1. Thank you so much Susie! I joined with a yarn needle, catching the outer hoops. I can send you the site for how to do it that way if you would like. :) This was my first time, so I haven't tried anything else, but really like it and it was easy. Wishing you a beautiful weekend, and happy crocheting and creating! xo Heather

  28. Beautiful!!! The colors are gorgeous together! And your squares stayed square... unlike mine. ;-) I'm redoing mine with looser tension and 3 chains at the corner to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise I may have failed both crochet 101 and crochet 102.
