sweethearts

Hello and a lovely day to you!
Over the weekend I finished up my mother-in-law's birthday gift, which was this sweet heart quilted table topper. I really love how it turned out and it was inspired by the beautiful quilt that the lovely Helen made, which you can see here on her pretty blog! I fell in love with her quilt and wanted to make something on the smaller scale, so a table topper it was!
I added some blanket stitches and hand quilted around the hearts.
And, then did some simple machine quilting in the fabric squares. I love all these colors together and I am happy to say so did my mother-in-law! I might have to make one for myself if I get some extra time.
I stitched up these darling birds over the weekend and I am working on some others that will all be heading to the shoppe at the end of the month.
Along with these pretty heart coasters that are getting a little blanket stitching and will be ready to sweeten up those wintery days.

These lovelies are being made into pillow covers for the shoppe. The one on the right is a 50's fabric and the rose one is a feed sack, and both of them I am completely in love with!
Something I wanted to try new this year was different crocheted edgings for my tea towels. I did this one last night and love how pretty it turned out, but I still think that scallops have my heart! What do you think?

Wishing you all a fabulous and lovely week!

sweet little treasures

Happy Monday!
Hope that your weekend was most lovely! It was a busy weekend of sewing and working on trying to get all my new items finished. I am almost done! ;)
Last month I went to an estate sale and came home with these small treasures, which sometime are always the best to bring home! This sale had photos to show what was there before, so when I saw the pot holders and tin molds, I knew I had to try to get them, and I did! I look forward to recreating these rose pot holders!
In the garage was an old chest and hidden deep within were these pretty floral fabrics! There are just scrap pieces left over from her sewing projects, but oh so sweet they are! The one with the tiny pin dots was used for a skirt she made that I saw in the closet. It was so cute, but way to pricey for my budget, so I am happy to have come across the scraps. I have already soaked and cleaned them up, and they are ready to be used in something pretty!
And, there was a box full of crocheted hangers, not all in the greatest condition, so I snagged these three!
I love the pretty colors and those sweet flowers!! I have been wanting to try making some with crochet thread, so these are perfect inspiration!
Along with those cute Christmas mice, I came across these goodies! Delicate lace, bells, flower for gifts, and a couple Christmas cookie cutters! Overall it was a good sale and I look forward to hitting the next one!
Cuteness is coming!! It will be a busy next couple days to get everything done and in my shoppe! So, if I get a little quite visiting, you know why! ;) Hope that you are enjoying some beautiful weather and crafty goodness!!

Wishing you a lovely and creative week!

hexies, ripple goodness, and a peak

Happy Monday Sweet Friends!!
It is so good to be back and I have missed you all! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend and for those in the states, had a lovely 4th of July! This summer seems to be flying by already, and the heat has definitely not been shy. We were lucky to have a cooler weekend, and are hoping it stays!
I recently finished two more hexie flowers for my quilt and these both remind of summertime of picnics and homemade ice cream!
But, I am a little partial to the mint and strawberries, as I love the color mint and sweet strawberries!
And, these are all of them together! I still haven't decided if I should make 12 or 16. I am kinda leaning 16, to make it a little bit bigger and because I have some more fabrics I would like to use, or just keep it smaller at 12, since I still need to do all the white hexagons in between.
They each measure about 10 by 10 inches, and I am actually curious if anyone has a vintage Grandmothers Flower Garden quilt to know how big the hexie flowers are in the vintage ones? So, for now I am going to do two more, and go from there.
I have finally finished all the first rows of colors that I planned to do for the ripple blanket, and love how it is already looking, and I like the creamy white in between the colors!
Now, I need to start repeating the colors until I reach a good length for a lap sized blanket, which will have to wait for those cooler days.
And, now for a little peak at my new kitchen vintage inspired embroidery line! These are the two samples I made, so hope you like them!! There will be pot holders and flour sack tea towels with vintage embroidery patterns of sweet animals, and maybe more to come!

And, of course the tea towels wouldn't be complete with out a pretty scalloped edging! My favorite! ;)
The pot holders will all have a sweet gingham binding to match the color of the fabrics with some hand stitching for a sweet handmade touch!
So, what do you think? I was trying to go for simple vintage style embroidered tea towels and pot holders, but I truly have a hard time keeping anything simple! I am happy with how they turned out, though! ;)
I will be working away and hope to be able to have everything ready for the shoppe early next week, along with some pillow covers and a couple more clothespin bags. So, it will definitely a busy week, but it is good to be creating again! I have some treasures to share with you that I will post later in the week, too. What sweetness will you be working on or doing this week!! I look forward to catching up with all that you have been up to and creating!
Thank you again for your continued prayers and love!! My husband is still on the mend and making good progress in his health everyday! We have so much to be thankful for!

Wishing you all a most lovely and creative week!!

a vintage lambie

 Happy Sweet Day!!
Hope that you have been having a lovely week so far! I have been working on a little embroidery project for my dear friends who just had a precious baby girl last week!! This was on my mind to make, but I just had to wait until she was born! And, I will actually be seeing her today! Yay!
I thought this little vintage lamb pattern was so sweet and I loved all the pretty flowers. This had quite a lot of french knots and they have always been my least favorite stitch, until I came across this awesome tutorial from Sublime Stitching, and it finally clicked on how to make a real knot. I was thrilled to be able to make a true french knot, and now I kinda enjoy doing them! Crazy, I know! ;)
The little lambie came from this vintage Vogart embroidery pattern booklet that I bought recently. That kitty and the honey bears are so darn cute! I can't wait to have a reason to stitch them up. It was a little hard doing the face, and I ended up having to use one strand of embroidery floss. So, maybe I can just stitch some of these up for practice! ;)
I added some pretty vintage lace to the top to give it a vintage touch, and it is sweetly wrapped and ready to give to baby Naomi! Next on my list is to make my second barn block and work on some hexie flowers, along with some other cute vintage embroideries. My ripple blanket is going to have to wait a little longer for a cooler day. Are you working on any crafty goodness?

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week and weekend!!

a happy friday

Thank you all so much for you sweet comments on my estate finds! It was a good weekend for treasures!
It has been a busy week of creating, planning a new line of products for my shoppe, and hanging out with sweet friends. The weather finally cooled down and it has been so lovely outside. I need to enjoy these days, as summer is just around the corner. Hope you have had some wonderful weather, too!
I was able to get one flower done, and the bowl is full of little squares ready to be made into a sweet purple one. I think my goal is 12 flowers, so I have 7 more to go and then it will be adding all the white hexies to connect the flowers.
Some progress is being made on my ripple blanket. I am going to be doing a grey and mint green stripe next, and then repeat the other colors until it is the right length. I look forward to it being done, but it was hard to crochet on those hots days, so hopefully the cool weather will last!
I have been working on some vintage tea towels for the shoppe that will be listed next week. These are the last ones of these pretty tablecloths!
And, I have been busily working on some plans for a new line of vintage inspired embroidered kitchen items that I have had in my mind for awhile. So, I have been collecting cute vintage patterns and I am excited to get started on this new line. I hope to be showing you these kitchen goodies soon! So, if my blog gets a little quite you'll know why. ;)
I am also in the process of making a couple more clothespin bags one with the sweet kittens washing their mittens, and another darling cross-stitch kitty pattern. There is just something about those cute kittens that just makes me smile! How about you?
A pretty packaged arrived yesterday from the lovely Holly of Cutie Pie Cottage. We did a fun garland swap, and this beautiful button ball garland is what she sent me!! I just love the pretty colors and fabrics, and those cute buttons!! Thank you so much Holly for sending me such a sweet garland!
Wishing you a most lovely and crafty weekend!

sweet weekend wishes

 Happy Friday!!
Well, I have been working away on my sweet kitty embroidery project and I look forward to sharing with you very soon! I still have some hand stitching to do, and then the final touches will be made. So for now, I will just leave you with this teaser.
And, when I haven't been sewing up my hexie flowers, I have been working on this ripple goodness! I have been wanting to make a ripple crocheted blanket for awhile, and I was so inspired by sweet Helen's gorgeous blanket, that I had to make one, too! The pattern is from Lucy of Attic24, and it is fabulous!! You can check her neat ripple pattern, hereSo, I am off to crochet, sew, and work on those little hexie flowers. What will you be working on this weekend?

♥Mother's Day is next weekend and if you are still looking for something sweet for your mother, there is still time to order from my little shoppe, and get it in time for Mother's Day. All orders placed over the weekend will be sweetly packaged and shipped first thing Monday morning!

sweet makings

Hello dear friends! Hope that your weekend was wonderful!
It was a busy, but productive one for me, and I am happy to show you two more pretty hexie flowers for my quilt.
The process is going quicker than I thought, so I hope to be able to keep up with two a week. The hardest part so far is choosing the fabrics, but it has been a great way to use up some of my scraps!
I also worked on some vintage tea towels over the weekend. They are getting their finishing touches and will be in the shoppe at the end of the week, and just in time if you are planning on doing some Mother's Day shopping.
I've been playing with a new idea for an item to put in my shoppe with this pretty cross-stitched rose, which I still need to add some leaves and little flowers to. There will be this pink one and an aqua one, so we'll see how my idea turns out!
And, I just finished this sweet vintage embroidery that will be made into a larger project I have stirring in my head. I told you my weekend was busy, but definitely what I like to be busy with! Are you working on any crafty goodness? Well, I am looking forward to catching up with you!

Wishing you a most lovely and creative week!

bless our home

Happy Friday and March 1st!
I can't believe how fast February went by, but that only means were just a little closer to beautiful spring and Easter! I have been working on a few gifts this week and getting ready to start decorating for Easter. I found a cute pattern for crocheted eggs that I am eager to try this weekend, and will have to show you if they come out cute!
Last night I finished this pretty "Bless our Home" embroidery for a wedding gift. I really love how pretty it turned out!
I used a vintage Vogart rose embroidery pattern, which I recently bought and have been wanting to try. The rosebuds look so sweet on the tiny pink gingham. I adore the vintage feel this piece has! And, there is just something about those pink roses that makes me smile!
Now, I need to finish the backing and it will be ready to be sweetly wrapped and treasured in its new home! I have a couple of friends who have birthdays coming up, so I maybe making a couple more, and even one for myself! ;)
I have been working on tying my vintage patchwork quilt. I decided to use pearl cotton embroidery floss this time, and so far I am liking it. On my last quilt I tied, I used embroidery floss, but didn't really like how it frayed after washing and drying it. So, hopefully this will not do the same.
After I am done tying, the binding needs to be sewn on to the back, and it will be done! Yay!
Do you have any fun or creative plans this weekend?
Well, I hope that you a most lovely day and beautiful weekend sweet friends!
