butterball

Happy Friday and Spring!
I hope that your week has been wonderful! I have been busy working on some baby shower gifts and a birthday gift, which I can't wait to share with you next week! The baby shower is tomorrow for a dear friend who is having a sweet girl expected to arrive in May. Yesterday, I finished all the gifts, and they are sweetly wrapped and ready for tomorrow!

So, since I don't have any crafty photos to share, I thought it would be fun to share this darling vintage book to welcome spring in with you! I picked this up awhile back, and just fell in love with Butterball, that cute little chick!
The Rand McNally & Company always has the sweetest books and illustrations!!
How adorable are all these sweet chicks!
Mother Hen has such a cute apron, with scallops and polka dots, oh my!
And, the cutest of them all, Butterball hidden among the dandelions! I will let you enjoy the rest of the book!
Well, I hope you enjoyed this darling little book! Wishing you all a beautiful and crafty weekend!

a vintage baby book

I truly adore the 40's and 50's for so many reasons, but the children's books during those eras bring such a happiness and warmth to my heart. Well, last week at a thrift store I came across this adorable 1946 Our Baby, The First Five Years book by The Whitman Publishing Company.
The graphics and colors are the sweetest! I love all the pretty flowers, especially the pink roses. How precious is that baby's face with those rosy cheeks and those cute baby fairies!
The book is in really good condition with only a few pages filled out.
A sweet baby born on February 13, 1952 with...
the most adorable little footprints.
So many cute pages are left to be filled with memories, first words, birthdays, holidays, and more.
These graphics would be sweet made into cards or other crafty goodness, too.
I have a dear friend who is expecting a baby in May, so I will have to see what I can create using some of these pages!
Do you have a special baby book that you have found treasure hunting or one of your own from childhood?
The pretty pink rose pot holder is finished! I love how it came out and can't wait to hang it up in my kitchen. I actually even have some hanging in my living room, because they are so pretty.
The next one I am set out to make is a yellow rose one, and I even bought some variegated yarn in pink, green, and yellow that I look forward to trying. I was thinking of having samples of different colors in my shoppe,(and eventually different patterns), and making them as custom orders, so that they could be customized to the colors in your kitchen or as a gift. So, I'll let you know once I get that up and figured out. ;)
Over the weekend I crocheted some mint and cream coasters using this lovely pattern. I had made some for gifts this Christmas, and wanted to make some for myself. They are simple and quick to make, and look adorable on the table.
Wishing you all a lovely and creative week!!

great grandma's sewing caddy

Thank you all for your sweet and supportive comments on my new tea towels and mini quilts! They mean so much to me! I have one more batch that I will be listing hopefully during the weekend. :)
I thought it would be fun to share my great grandma's sewing caddy with you. It was given to me by my mom, and I have always loved the design, especially the pretty scalloped legs.
It is an olive green, and looks as though it has been painted more than once. Underneath there is a darker green, and a yellow. I think I would like it in the pretty yellow!
 It sweetly stores my yarn.
And, now they are quite the darling pair together!! I am still waiting for the paint to arrive so I can get started on painting this little one, and maybe even both!
Some pretty yarn came in the mail yesterday, which is always so fun opening up to find all these yummy colors.
Now, I can start on my next color for this mini crocheted blanket. Hope you are having a lovely and crafty day!

rip van winkle

This Friday's book is a classic Rip Van Winkle adapted from Washington Irving's Legend by Dorothy Bell Briggs and illustrated by Anne Sellers Leaf, and published in 1962.
I adore all the sweet faces, especially the little girl and boy!
What a friend indeed Rip was!! But, his wife wasn't too happy about him not tending to their houses needs! So, he went off into the woods to walk his anger off. Isn't the little girls outfit so cute!
Lovin' the long beard on the fellow carry the keg with apple juice, right? This is a children's book. ;)
Bowling in the forest sounds fun!! Love the little yellow bird, and all the colorful socks!
Strike!! Look at the fellow doing his cute dance!
Rip fell asleep, and when he awoke up he wondered what he would tell his wife for being away all night! Oh, my!
Rip had slept for twenty tears, and had no idea! Imagine that! I see a sweet bunny hiding behind a tree!
Rip couldn't find his dog, so he headed for town, and he was quite the sight!
Rip asked around, "Does nobody know Rip Van Winkle?", but no one knew who he was until a sweet old lady came to his side.
So, Rip told his story, and whenever the thunder rolls, the sweet children would say, "that the little men are up in the mountains bowling."

Love this precious illustration, and her cute dress! Such a sweet version of this classic! Hope you have a wonderful Friday, and Memorial Day weekend!!
