a vintage pillow

Thank you for all your sweet comments on my new items! I am truly blessed by your kindness and support! So, many thanks for making my day brighter!
Last Friday, I went to an estate sale on my street, which was great to not have to go very far, and I came home with a few lovely treasures. The prices were quite high, so I didn't get to take all that caught my eye, unfortunately. Well, this vintage crewel embroidered pillow was sitting on the couch ready for a new home, and I was more than happy to give it one!
I have always loved needlework pillows and there is something so beautiful about crewel embroidery. I have not really come across a lot of them, especially ones that I like, but this one was so sweet, that I knew it had to come home with me! I am thinking this is from the 60's or 70's, and I love the pop of bright orange and yellow colors.
The design is beautiful, and the flowers and butterfly are so pretty. I adore the circular shape, and it looks like at one time there was green velvet piping, which is now a dark yellow with green splotches. I will just have to imagine how lovely that was!
Now it has found a pretty place to rest and be treasured for many more years! It has also sparked my interest in giving crewel embroidery a try. Have you ever done it before?
And of course, I found some adorable vintage pot holders! A girl can never have too many of these cuties! The aqua and white in this darling shape are so pretty, and I do heart that scalloped edging!
Oh, how I love this one, especially that pretty jade green!! I only wish I could still find that color. And, I was thinking that maybe because it was used and washed, over time it faded to that shade of green. What do you think? Well, this cute flower pattern will definitely be in the making for spring! How lovely would this look in pink!
I am going to try to finish the quilt top this week, as I am too eager to have it finished. So, I am off to sew away! Are you working on any sweet projects this week?

Wishing you a most lovely and crafty day!♥

vintage needlepoint...

Happy Monday!
Over the weekend I finished my bluebird project, a lovely pillow! I am so happy with how it turned out. It is one of my favorite pillows I have made so far. I am really loving the crocheted edging. It adds such a sweet vintage touch!
I am thinking of making some more pillows just with some pretty floral fabric and a crocheted edge! Can never have too many pillows! ;)
On Saturday, I went to an estate sale and brought home these pretties. I have always wanted a plastic yarn basket. This one is so cute, and it was made in the USA! There was a lot of yarn, and these two needlepoints that are so pretty.
Both are unfinished, which I am excited to learn how to do it, so I can finish them! One came on the frame, which is neat, and I won't need to buy one.
This one is my favorite. I just love the floral design and colors. Very summery.
This is the bag it came in, and I guess this was a company that had vintage needlepoint designs. I am happy there is still the yarn in the bag, so I can finish it with the same colors. My list of projects keeps growing, but I love it!! ;)
I received a sweet package from the most lovely Jean of Ruby and Arthur. She has such a beautiful and inspiring blog filled with vintage treasures, so make sure you pop over to say hello! Jean purchased one of my sweet vintagey tea towel to use as a dresser scarf. Such a creative and cute idea! You can see it here
I was so excited to find such pretty vintage linens, fabrics, feedsack, and even some fun vintage pink shoe tags! So neat!!
Love these beautiful florals!! I can't wait to use them!
A beautiful embroidered flower basket tablecloth, sweet children prints, and pretty florals! Thank you so much Jean, for your generous and thoughtful gift! They will all be treasured and made into something pretty!
Wishing you all a wonderful day and week!
