Thank you for all your sweet comments on my new items! I am truly blessed by your kindness and support! So, many thanks for making my day brighter!
Last Friday, I went to an estate sale on my street, which was great to not have to go very far, and I came home with a few lovely treasures. The prices were quite high, so I didn't get to take all that caught my eye, unfortunately. Well, this vintage crewel embroidered pillow was sitting on the couch ready for a new home, and I was more than happy to give it one!
I have always loved needlework pillows and there is something so beautiful about crewel embroidery. I have not really come across a lot of them, especially ones that I like, but this one was so sweet, that I knew it had to come home with me! I am thinking this is from the 60's or 70's, and I love the pop of bright orange and yellow colors.
The design is beautiful, and the flowers and butterfly are so pretty. I adore the circular shape, and it looks like at one time there was green velvet piping, which is now a dark yellow with green splotches. I will just have to imagine how lovely that was!
Now it has found a pretty place to rest and be treasured for many more years! It has also sparked my interest in giving crewel embroidery a try. Have you ever done it before?
And of course, I found some adorable vintage pot holders! A girl can never have too many of these cuties! The aqua and white in this darling shape are so pretty, and I do heart that scalloped edging!
Oh, how I love this one, especially that pretty jade green!! I only wish I could still find that color. And, I was thinking that maybe because it was used and washed, over time it faded to that shade of green. What do you think? Well, this cute flower pattern will definitely be in the making for spring! How lovely would this look in pink!
I am going to try to finish the quilt top this week, as I am too eager to have it finished. So, I am off to sew away! Are you working on any sweet projects this week?
Wishing you a most lovely and crafty day!♥
I love the pattern for the aqua and green cloth, do you mind if I ask where you got it?
ReplyDeleteI am crocheting and crocheting this week little hearts ad bits and pieces...
Bestest to you today

These were vintage pot holders that I bought at an estate sale, so I unfortunately don't have the pattern. I am going to try to make the flower one by looking at it, and once I figure it out, I can send the pattern your way. Happy crocheting Daisy! xo Heather

DeleteI'm so glad you rescued that gorgeous pillow at the estate sale. It looks perfect on your chair. I haven't been to an estate sale in weeks. I'm envious of your sweet treasures.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to have brought it home! ;) Well, hopefully you can hit one soon! Have a great day! xo Heather
DeleteThat pillow reminds me of the first embroidery pattern I ever did and it was in the early 70s. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pot holders you found! I can hardly find them in any color but pink or red and i like those colors but now I'm on the look out for others as well. I don't think I've ever see a green one so I wouldn't know if that one is faded or not. I know the reds that I find are always so bright so maybe the yarns back then didn't fade?
Have fun finishing your quilt top! ♥
Oh, how fun!! ;) Thanks for your help! Maybe I will just have to try to hunt that color of yarn down. Have a great day! xo Heather

DeleteHello sweet Heather,
ReplyDeleteOh, what a pretty splash of spring color! Your estate sale find is perfection. What beautiful workmanship. When my boys were young I did a lot of crewel. I still have several projects that are unframed. Shame on me! Maybe a pillow would be a better idea than something for the wall.
Thank you for your loving comment on my blog. It's been a very long month with baby's overdue birth and concerns. God has been such a wonderful source of strength and comfort. My son and his wife are adjusting and loving the special time they have with Baby Chandler. In California the husbands get maternity leave so they can bond with baby. My son, Tim, doesn't return to work until March.
What fun it is beginning the journey of getting caught up on visiting all my blogging buddies. I have so many things I am dreaming to do (once I get to feeling better).
Blessings and thanks for your prayers and sweet friendship,
Carolynn xoxo
Thank you so much Carolynn! Praying that you feel better soon! Take care and have a lovely week! xo Heather
DeleteThe cushion is awesome, and such pretty colours ... I wonder how many hours it took to stitch?
ReplyDeleteMy sweet project for the week is to knit a teeny scarf and a teeny shawl, which I will blog about when they are done.
Thank you Annie! Oh, can't wait to see them both!! Happy knitting! xo Heather

DeleteOh, my goodness, what lovely treasures! I LOVE that flower pot holder...the color, the pattern!! I've never tried crewel before but I've been watching a listing with a couple of vintage kits on Ebay (featuring snowmen, my weakness), I may have to purchase them after seeing that pillow. :) --Fran
ReplyDeleteThank you Fran!! Oh, yes you might have to purchase one, and let me know how you like crewel! Have a great day! xo Heather

DeleteHi Heather,
ReplyDeleteIt's Laura from VintageBettys. I would love to order one of your potholders that you make, but for some reason I couldn't email you it wouldn't go through:( I would like to have one made with a red rose, mint green leaves and the whitest white you have as a background....let me know when to pay. Could you reserve it on Etsy when you complete it so I can pay through paypal?
Hi Laura! Oh, wonderful!! I will email you you the details! Thank you!!! xo Heather
