a rainy may day

Happy May 1st!! Can you believe how fast April went by!! Well, it has been raining all day today!! I enjoy the rain, but have been loving the beautiful sunny weather we were having. Hopefully it will clear up! Despite the rain, the mailman was very nice today to bring such wonderful goodies!
Beautiful rose vintage fabrics!! Does it get any better? Not for me!!
Here are some more sweet vintage fabrics. The pretty orange roses are a vintage feedsack. I really love sewing with feedsacks! There is something about the history, and prints, that I just adore.
These pretties are from the most lovely Kerri, who has sweetest Etsy shoppe, Sew Deerly Loved!! Thank you Kerri!! I have already started cutting into them!! Make sure you visit Kerri at her gorgeous blog, Lovely Little Handmades.
Last Thursday, I was the lucky winner of the Thankful for my Friends Thursday giveaway from the most lovely Andrea, at The Cottage MarketYay!! I was so excited to get these pretties in the mail!!
I just love the adorable hair clips, and sweet rose earrings! Perfect for spring! Thank you so much Andrea for such sweet treats!! Make sure you take a visit to her beautiful blog, The Cottage Market !!
Granny time!! This Sunday, I was able to get two more crocheted grannies done!! I am getting so close!!
I was also able to get two grannie blocks done!! Sorry for the fuzzy photos. Now, you know why I always take my photos outside!! ;)

I love the colors on both blocks!
Hope that you are having a wonderful day, and are enjoying some good weather!!

  4. I found some feed sacks fabric when I was shopping last Saturday in Kalona. They were beautiful, but I left them there. Ran out of money. But I was tempted....

I tried making a granny square last week, but when it came time to square if up, I was off and it bugged me. I need to try again and pay more attention to my seam allowances. Yours are so very pretty...

  8. Everything you make is just so beautiful! The more I see, the more it convinces me that I just have to make another attempt at sewing (the first couple trys were a disaster). I'm missing out on too much cuteness! Thank you for the inspiration Heather!

  11. Oh what pretty fabrics Heather. :0) Kerris shop is my favorite. :0) And your feedsacks are oh so pretty. I am curious ... what is the difference between feedsack material and other materials? I don't believe I have seen feedsack in person. Congratulations on your darling win. Those little earrings are too cute. And those grannies!! Your blanket is going to be so pretty! As is your quilt. :0)
Have a lovely day. Trish xo

    1. Thank you Trish!! The feedsack are a little thicker cotton than regular quilting fabrics, and were used to hold goods back in the day like flour, and other things, which is why they are thicker. They just have the best prints!! Many women used them after they got there goods for sewing quilts, aprons, dish cloth, etc. Such a fun history!! Have a good night!! xo Heather
