A sweet package arrived in the mail this week.
Wrapped so pretty with the cutest Washi tape, and inside...
the most beautiful grey feed sacks! The largest smile came to my face as I looked so happily at each one. A kind blogging friend,Barbara, shares a love for grey, and wanted to so generously share some of her favorite grey feed sacks that she has collected with me. Thank you so very much Barbara for these pretty treasures!
The minute I saw them, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. A vintage feed sack doll quilt. I adore doll quilts, and thought this was the best way to display these beautiful prints all together.
I added a couple of grey feed sacks that I had, and choose a light grey and white striped binding.
I hand quilted diagonal lines and watched pretty x's appear in each square.
For the back I had a feed sack reproduction fabric, that I thought would continue the vintage look. I really love how it came out! It is washed and dried to give it that crinkly goodness, and now I just need to get a little vintage doll to be wrapped inside it! ;)
Christmas sewing and crafting has begun in my little creative space. A little peak at a project I am making for my home for this Christmas. I have a list of projects from last year that I want to complete, and of course I have added on to it, so we'll see what I can get done. Maybe I can borrow some of Santa's elves to help me out! ;)
Wishing you a lovely and creative day dear friends!!

ReplyDeletePossibly my most favourite of your amazing creations yet. Just one question what is a feed sack?
Thank you Sophie!! Feed sack was a fabric sack, starting in the 1800's, that was used to hold feed, flour, etc and many women started using them to make aprons, quilts, clothes, and other household items. They came in so many beautiful colors, along with some plain white ones with company labels on them. Anyways, hope that helps! ;) xo Heather
